Response from Susan:
I equate many of AirBnb's homes as hostels; people cook for themselves an leave during the days and often the evenings to hike, kayak, bike, swim, eat, explore, but then return to a comfy room with all amenities waiting for them, like a full kitchen, clean, comfy beds, linens, beautiful decks, etc...
The master suite, bath and living area of the house - neat and clean and ready for these guests. Unfortunately, this couple does not handle real California country-side very well.. From the moment my brown, Chessie Retriever met them at their car, Bily was terrified of her and I believe it colored the rest of her visit here, which may explain her response to a wild animal/snake warning in their room's brochure.... yes, we have venomous snakes in CA... do I see them? Very rarely, but best to let folks know right?
The lake's warning areas are at the dam, but just a few miles further, the lake opens up to pristine beaches, parks and day use areas on the entire west side. Lake Berryessa is 40 miles long, one of the largest inland lakes here.
As stated, there are multiple wine, beer and cheese-tasting places in the small Winters town. It is not a Napa experience, but instead, a friendly, intimate community.
I was never given any opportunity to help make this couple's stay better; they were intent upon leaving as soon as they awoke, refused a nice breakfast, and left, without taking a moment to have a quality conversation to help them out..... for that I am disappointed... not getting to know them, as I am sure there must be more to them then frustration..
I guess one out of 50 is a pretty good average of people loving and returning here to stay.....
