Nearing 60, still thinking 25, about to venture to Europe for the first time in October of 2012. Multi-career with past in human services, television, and currently managing a very successful eBay/Amazon sales operation now in its 8th year. Liberal, totally embarrassed by the Bush years and concerned about the intolerance of religious conservatives in the US. Love food (especially sushi, which I cater for charity), wine, music, and history and have forever dreamed of visiting places with a significant past (The oldest structure in my hometown is barely 150 years old...).
I've joined airbnb expressly for my October 2012 trip to Spain and Portugal. I'm visiting Barcelona, the Campo de Borja wine region, Segovia, Madrid, Sevilla, Ronda, and Lisbon. Out of Lisbon I'll travel 9 days through Portugal without a plan. Although I want to see some of the notable things in each location I want more to see life as it is day to day. I've traveled quite a bit in the US and always search out the unique places to eat, unusual architecture, and anything that defines the sense of place. I hope to do the same in Spain despite the fact I that I don't speak a word of Spanish....I'm a good guest (at least that's what my daughters say when I visit) and sure to follow the guidelines. I have a personal motto that hangs on my wall. It sums up my approach to life and hopefully gives you a good idea as to what to expect:
Think of Others
