I am a parisian journalist, . I speak English and of course French. I used to practice fencing.
When we arrived, Tristan was already waiting for us. He patiently explained all details: WIFI, cable TV, washing machine, etc., and presented us with two bottles of wine.
The apartment is very comfortable and well maintained, in a perfect location: few steps from metro station, supermarket and bakery. It's worth mentioning the good Internet connection with WIFI, dozens of power outlets, and TV compatible with Mac AirPlay display.
I would definitely try to stay there again in my next visit to Paris!
Tristán es un anfitrión amable. Su departamento es cálido y cómodo. La ubicación, excelente. Pasamos unos días inolvidades en París! Gracias por todo!
My stay at Tristan's flat was amazing. He was friendly, and even called and emailed me the day of my arrival to make sure I had no problems getting to his flat. The bottle of wine and baguette he greeted my boyfriend and I with was a great way to start our vacation. The apartment was cozy, the perfect size for two people, and just as advertised. There's a balcony overlooking the street, but it was unfortunately too cold to use. The area is great for people who love food; within walking distance to Rue Mouffetard's market, and some great places in the Latin Quarter. It was also very conveniently located close to a metro stop and several tourist locations. It was an ideal place for our first time in Paris, and I definitely would recommend Tristan and his apartment for your next trip.
I second everything positive about Tristan and his apartment. Beyond that, I give him full points for helping me out of a jam. I was planning to spend my last week in France visiting Brittany, but got tired of driving. About ten p.m. I decided to spend the time in Paris. By 11:30 I found Tristan's apartment and by midnight we had a deal. I showed up the next afternoon and Tristan graciously showed me the ins and outs of the place.
By only objection was with the Paris weather. My last day Banjo and Chambertin picnic in the Luxembourg Gardens was rained out.
Back in November 2013, I said I would come back, and I did, for a whole month. As someone who lived in Paris for two years previously, well aware of the price of rent for a given size and location, I can honestly say this is the best deal I have ever seen. It feels much larger than the sqm would indicate, given its layout with a separate sleeping area. The location is amazing, walkable to two different pockets of nightlife, and sitting literally on top of a metro station. There is a nice supermarket on the corner, the other tenants in the building are extremely quiet, yet friendly when you see them. Tristan has loaded the flat with thoughtful touches like multiple umbrellas, European-plug chargers for both Android and iPhones, a bevy of tourist information books on Paris, and an impressive audio-video setup that will let you watch or hook up virtually anything you want; including nice speakers for a quick iPod connection.
If you're a first-time visitor to Paris, this would be the perfect combination of host and flat for you. If you're a part-time Parisian like myself, it's a great value. I can't recommend this listing enough.
The only caveat I can even think of is a very deep tub/shower, which an older or less mobile person might have some trouble with. Everything else is perfect.
Cute little flat in Paris. Easy to take the Metro to & from both airports, and centrally located to Notre Dame, Rue de Four shopping, and great restaurants near the Odeon metro stop. My husband & I did not stay in the apartment much, but it was cozy sleeping, and lovely to sit next to the open the french doors and have coffee in the morning. (Too cold when we went to sit on the balcony) Tristan was so very accommodating, even greeted us with delicious croissants, and a bottle of wine (which we placed in the the fridge & forgot to drink). He also has a collection of Paris travel books which help if you need some suggestions or a quick map. Highly recommend if you want the feel of living in Paris!
I have not stayed in this apartment, but nevertheless I feel the need to post a very positive review. Wanting to spend a full month in Paris next July because of my 70th birthday - being very familiar with Paris since I generally visit a couple of times a year, but no longer than 2 weeks at a time before this time- I fell in love with Tristan's apartment- because of its exotic decoration, separate bedroom, little terrasse with a table for coffee outdoors, and the 52 reviews singing Tristans praises. However , after having reserved the apartment and paying the rent to Airbnb, I started to have second thoughts because of two things that are only a result of my personal issues- my desire to have everything during this"big" birthday month meet my fantasies. I have generally stayed on side streets, or pedestrian streets, and this apartment is on a main street with an emergency building across the street, rather than a narrow lane. As I "walked" up and down from the apartment - via an online mapping system (I would say "(website hidden) maps" but it will probably be blocked by the Airbnb software) - to the Arenes of Lutece and the Contrescarpe and rue Mouffetard and the Pantheon (all of which are close by) , I realized that the " feel" was different to me than I was picturing. A second issue - and the only other one - was my possibly (probably?) neurotic issue with the lack of a table that I felt could be a true "dining in" type of table - where I could have my meals and a glass of wine. There is a small round metal table that would have probably served just fine - particularly if I covered it with a cloth - but to me it didn't feel right. I operate on emotions sometimes - particularly with respect to this long anticipated and planned for coming of age month (I will be 70 going on 48 by the way). . I sent Tristan question after question- he responded quickly, completely, and politely, and not with the least trace of annoyance (to his credit). . Finally, he suggested I rethink the reservation, leaving it up to me. When I finally decided to cancel, he cooperated immediately ( despite being out of town) to aid me in reducing the days in the reservation to take it out of the automatic 28 day no refund policy, and then permit me to cancel with full refund. He has been WONDERFUL!!!! . Anyone coming to Paris should check out this reasonably priced and unusually large apartment with such a wonderful host. I truly plan on the occasion of another shorter (and less emotionally charged) trip to stay there - if Tristan will still have me, and I WILL continue to recommend Tristan and his apartment to others.
Great neighbourhood, charming little flat. Definitely would consider using again for our next trip to Paris!
Tristan was extremely helpful, kind, and courteous. Even though he was out of the country, he responded promptly to any request we made. He also ensured that we had a local contact in his absence. The apartment was well equipped and clean. The only thing I could warn a potential guest about is that the washing machine is loud, so run it during the day. I made the mistake of starting it late in the evening once.
it has been excellent, the place, the location (5eme and so close to rue mouffetard market and its market!), the way how the host makes it work to meet you and give you the keys. the place is clean and cosy. thanks tristan!
Tristan is a quiet and trustworthy tenant who appreciated and respected my house!
I had un umbrella and Tristan forgot this in a taxi, after this he bought one another!
