I like to travel, I enjoy good food, good restaurants and spending time with family and friends.
Lovely house, very clean and well located! Mr. Marcel, who welcomed us, is a sweet person. Definitely would stay there again!
This apartment was everything we hoped for and more, and made our stay in Paris the most wonderful experience. My husband and I travelled with our 18-month old baby, my mother, and our uncle - this townhome was absolutely perfect for our situation! Homeowners Mike and Val went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. The townhome is warm, inviting, and truly unique, and it was easy to feel right at home. It is also very roomy- everyone in our group had not only their own room and bath, but their own floor of the home. We all relaxed together in the cozy living room/dining area every evening, and the kitchen had everything we needed to make us feel at home.
The house manager, Mr. Marcel was waiting for us when we arrived and was an absolute delight, helping us throughout the week with everything from directions to recommendations and even set up our return ride to the airport. The unique and personalized attention to detail, from their maps of recommended restaurants, patisseries, and markets in the area, to being on call throughout the week, to their directions for use of the metro system to explore all of the tourist destinations, we felt completely at ease and were able to truly enjoy this wonderful city! Both Mr. Marcel and Mr. Mike even walked us out to show us the subway, their favorite restaurant, and the market on the first night we arrived. We truly can't say enough kind things about the generous hospitality we experienced with this home.
In addition, we found the location of the home in Paris to be absolutely perfect for our endeavors around the city. The home is an easy 1-minute walk (and I did this carrying a baby everyday!) to the metro/RER stop Nation, and from there you can get anywhere in the city quite easily. All around Nation circle, we could find markets, bakeries, cafes, restaurants and even a farmer's market - you could literally get everything you needed without ever getting on a subway or in a car.
Overall, we had the most wonderful time in Paris and we believe it is because of this amazing townhome that we stayed in, and it's perfect location in Paris. We are already counting down to our next trip and will never look anywhere else to stay!
Five of us, middle-aged women friends, stayed in Valeries's house for a long week-end in Paris. We liked the house, the description was accurate. The house was roomy and comfortable, charming and characterful. It is in a good residential area, not far from Gare de Lyon. The metro station, Nation, is very close and is very well connected to all the tourist area of Paris.
The manager, Mr Marcel was extremely friendly and helpful.
I would only mention that, if you have a problem whith stairs, this might not be ideal for you, as there are two very steep flight. However this was not a problem for us, and we would recommend this house, and we would go back.
Very comfortable , well equipped , warm & spacious apartment.
Safe & beautiful area, very close to Metro & RER.
Restaurant's, Pubs, Supermarkets, Off- Licence, Newsagents are plentiful and very close by.
House manager speaks very good English, and is extremely helpful and friendly.
We would highly recommend this apartment whenever you go to Paris
This is an amazing quirky fun apartment. The area is good with great Metro and RER access, good grocery shops a few restaurants and cafes and a super market on Saturday. Mike and Valerie are super great with correspondence and Marcel the house manager is an absolute Gem! and so helpful.
There are plenty of towels, hairdryers and kitchen stuff
We loved it and will look to book again soon
A fantastic clean apartment with all the necessary requirements for a homely stay in Paris. Mr Marcel was brilliant in his welcome, information and assistance - and also a lovely man!
We were five adults as one couple and three singles which made the bedroom and bathroom arrangements ideally suited to us.
Great location and Val and Mike were very good to deal with.
We'd happily recommend the apartment to others.
I along with two of my friends from NY stayed at Valerie's apartment from September 16th through September 20th. The house is very lovely and comfortable and situated in a very convenient location close to the Metro, supermarket, restaurant and boulangeries. The house also has all the amenities you will need including WiFi access. This is the perfect place for a family, two or three couples or a small group of friends to stay.
Mr Marcel, the caretaker of the home, warmly welcomed us to Paris, gave full details about the house and provided good advice of places to go in and outside of the area. He was an amazing resource.
I highly recommend Valerie's home and would definitely stay there again.
My friends and i stayed at Valerie for a long weekend and absolutely loved it. It was good value for money, good location, very spacious and the house manager Mr Marcel was very charming and delightful. My friends and i would definitely recommend staying here.
Response from Valérie:
Thank you very much for your review. We try to keep our guests advised about pickpockets in Paris's metro.
Hope you enjoed your trip in Europe.
With family of 5 (3 kids with age range of 10 -16) you are always looking for staying in a place that is family friendly and that everyone enjoys their stay. Our stay at Val and Mike's place was exactly that - home away from home. Safe neighborhood. They do CARE that you have a good time in their house. Mr. Marcel, the house manager, was very helpful. He speaks English and has a good sense of humor.
- Buy tickets online and - print them out. There is a printer in the house - just download the free HP printer driver.
- Take advantage of the terrace. We played cards with candle lights or have wine. Not much view because of tall buildings.
- If using tube (which is just 1-2 minute walk), buy tickets in bulk (like 10). Kids tickets are only half price. You can get to all major tourist sites via tube. Take Metro and Not RER (too crowded).
- If buying open tour bus, buy both day and night tours (just few Euros extra). Buy online and get a discount. We used (website hidden). Make sure you know their bus stops at each site. Getting back home - use the stops that are closest to tube station.
- If going as a group, at each site determine a central point you will regroup and what time to meet, in case you get separated. Very good chance of that happening.
- Plenty of good food everywhere. If special diet, make sure you repeat when ordering food so no mistakes are made. Spell out clearly. Use free translation apps (cell hone) if needed.
- Read Rick Steve's travel tips. Very helpful: (website hidden)_menu.htm?CFID(phone number hidden)&CFTOKEN(phone number hidden)b8b87b2f3-75D8799D-DF1E-9B(phone number hidden)A0613F84F68
- Take advantage of the local bakery across from the house, lovely Paris Cafes/pubs and even Thai food.
- Next door there is a movie theater. The last 2 shows of the day are in English. Watch movies in your PJ. What a good way to wind down.
Wish list: In a summer like July 2013, I wish there were fans in every room (and not just one bedroom).
We loved this apartment. Mr. Marcel was a great host to us and very kindly and helpful. A great location, very close to the metro and the wednesday market is something to behold. We have already recommended this apartment to our friends and family and would certainly stay here again. Thanks for all your care and attention, we really enjoyed staying on Diderot..
