This was not what I expected. I was rather disappointed in the cleanliness and the lack of direction given me by the host.
Had a great stay! The apartment is ridiculously close to UVA's grounds & the Corner and was clean as a whistle when we arrived. There were two beds plus an extra mattress available for sleeping, which was great, plus a bathroom in each bedroom. EJ made it easy to pick up the key and parking pass and we enjoyed our trip!
Great apartment, one of the beds is amazingly confy! Great location to go walking everywhere around UVA and downtown Charlottesville. The swimmingpool and gym are also great assets!
A good solid place to stay near UVA. Not too far from downtown Chancellorsville (15 min walk). E.J. was very responsive to texts, calls and emails so made getting into apt not so bad considering he was not able to be around at time I was coming in. He was flexible and cool about checkin time so that was very helpful and made my day workout better. The big huge king bed is pretty comfy, and super high off the ground which is both odd and cool at same time.
I met EJ through a mutual friend at Cornell, about five years ago, and we've been friends ever since. He has offered me space in his apartment on several occasions and is a most gracious host. About a year ago he introduced me to the Charlottesville area, including some fantastic nearby restaurants, the local wine trails, and of course, the university. The apartment itself is well kept and conveniently located; ideal for a college tour or just someone who is looking to pay a visit to the region.
I have known EJ for several years. At Thanksgiving I stayed a week at his apartment. We toured the University and surrounding area. The apartment was very clean (and the building has been renovated since). The location is ideally situated for walking to eating areas and the University. There is a beautifully landscaped courtyard with both a hot tub and a pool. There is an exercise area, lobby with coffee, and computer access with computers. I thought it was a great set-up. besides that the balcony looked out toward the railroad tracks (away from the eyes of others) and saw the movements of the resident woodchuck! The train track with the very occasional traffic added a quaint and interesting element surrounded by natural vegetation.
