Hey, I'm Stefanie!

Hello and welcome! I was born in Taiwan, grew up in Sacramento and Santa Barbara, been living in the Bay Area for nearly ten years and love it here. When I travel, or have functions in San Francisco, I share my lovely home with the world, and prefer to stay at other people's homes instead of hotels. It's great that AirBnb is around, so we get to sustain and promote a healthy lifestyle of traveling!

I am a sound therapist, energy healer and musician. I enjoy yoga, hiking, holistic living and good food. I am an avid learner of new things and a student of life. I also love SCUBA diving, skydiving and am an aspiring pilot. More than anything I enjoy observing and participating in improving our ways of being, our society, so that we could live more in harmony with our environment and ourselves.

My love for traveling has taken me to Asia, South America, Africa and Europe. A few more continents, a LOT more destinations, and infinite more people and situations to experience more of. I love everywhere I've traveled to and it's hard to choose a favorite destination. Egypt is one that recently blew me away. Also have deep love for Kota Kinabalu (in Borneo), Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Cinque Terre, Marseille, Prague and Budapest. I also enjoy Hong Kong, Taiwan, Beijing and Shanghai, although that part of the world is so familiar to me that I don't really consider it traveling, more like family time.

My favorite movies are sci-fi, foreign gems and totally out there experimental films. The Alien series, Matrix series, Blade Runner, Bicentennial Man, the original Star Wars, Contact, In the Eye of the Beholder, Underground by Emir Kusturica, Stalker and the original Solaris. Love the works of Lars von Trier, Andrei Tarkovsky, Alejandro Jodorowsky, Stan Brakhage, and more mainstream: Stanley Kubrick, Roman Polanski, and Ridley Scott. Two TV series that blew me away: Lost and the newer Battlestar Galactica.

I've played classical piano since a young age, so classical music is a genre I'm very at home with when it comes to playing and listening, particularly the Baroque and Romantic period. Artists I love: Muse, Beats Antique, Deadmau5, Autechre, Shpongle, Bass Nectar, Amon Tobin, Goldfrapp, Royksopp, Biosphere, and of course I love the group I play in: Beautiful Machines. Currently I am going through an 80's music period.

My favorite authors include Umberto Eco, Clive Barker, Anne McCaffrey, Frank Herbert. I also read a lot of books on psychology, human consciousness and energy healing. The next big novel I would read is Gregory David Roberts' Shantaram (I'd love to go to India).

I have a huge appreciation for fine dining and gourmet food. Most of the time, I eat very healthy and organic at home. An omnivore with a green and superfood focus, I love to cook and eat.

I am a very hospitable and accommodating host, you'll find me warm and respectful. If you are staying in one of my bedrooms and you are traveling at a leisurely pace, I would love to get to know you, conversations, tea, coffee, hiking, exchange of the minds. It all of course depends on the itinerary of your travels. If you are staying at the entire condo, you will most likely only see me when you check in. In which case, I'm happy to answer any questions, local travel tips, point you to restaurants and attractions, etc, both in person and via phone or email. When I am traveling as a guest, I like to have conversations with my host and spend a healthy amount of time out exploring. There is never enough time to do both because I have a tendency to pack my travel schedule up to the top.
