This flat had a lovely view out onto the water and the (website hidden) was quiet when we went there and we slept well and we had a lovely time in general. However there are a lot of repairs needed in this flat. There are wires hanging from the ceiling and wall where lights are missing. The jacuzzi bath doesn't work, except as a normal bath. The kettle, toaster, microwave and washing machine shown in the photos are no longer there. If these things were fixed then the place would be perfect!
Steinar's apartment is in a great location within walking distance of many of the city's highlights, and he was gracious enough to meet us before check-in time (for the car rental), and let us leave our backpacks while the apartment was being cleaned from last night's travelers.
However, we had a few minor hiccups. We had discussed renting an automatic car. Steinar gave us the keys, we went to breakfast, and he went to work. Upon our return, we found out the car was manual. Steinar said the automatic was in the shop. We had to scramble that morning to find a new rental. (After some messaging, we agreed Steinar would come by the next day, pick up the key, and drop off our rental money while we were out, which he did.) It was a little disappointing since the ability to rent an automatic was a major factor in our decision, and we had to settle for fewer days with another rental.
It was a new, neat apartment, but there were a few minor cleanliness issues: some small leftover trash in the night stand and sink, hair in the shower, etc. I know his cleaning service didn't have much time between guests, but it made staying there feel a little unclean. We threw out the trash, and mentioned to Steinar that we hadn't yet approached the hair in the drain before he came by to exchange our car payment for his keys. When we came back that evening, the hair was still in the shower. I know he employees cleaners for this purpose, but it would have been considerate of him to deal with the yet untouched shower.
It is a newly furnished apartment with a great location, and, with a few minor adjustments, could have been a stellar experience. Steinar is seems like a host who does care about his travelers, and I have no doubt he will take steps to correct the issues we faced. If he does, this could be a fantastic place to stay.
Very nice location. Near supermarket and the center. Great view from the house!! He told me where to go to see the northern lights and we actually saw it :) The room is Tidy and clean but no basic materials such as shampoo or cooking oil.
great apartment to stay in and steinar was really helpful before and during the trip! highly recommended! :)
Four of us stayed here close to Easter
+Cozy apartment with basic amenities and wifi
+Close to center of the city, most attractions are within walking distance
+Supermarket is nearby
+Steinar was super-helpful and responsive
-Somewhat small kitchen and bathrooms
-Located in one of the less pretty areas of the city
Great location, nice place. Very easy to find and good instructions for getting in, very helpful with flexible checkout. Thanks very much!
My host and stay was wonderful. Beautiful apartment with everything I needed. Thank you for making my first AirBnB experience so easy!
The 101 condo was in a fantastic location, close to the excursion pick up locations and close to shops and downtown Reykjavik. The host was very helpful with a early check in and got back to us quickly with any questions we had. Overall the condo serve our purposes in terms of location and accommodations. The bathroom situation left a little to be desired, it was incredibly small which made even tasks as small as brushing our teeth very hard. The shower did not drain and a bath mat would have been nice so that you are not stepping out on the hardwood floor right next to the front door. based on previous reviews we were under the impression that there was a television which there was not nor was there a hairdryer which we were told was most likely going to be in the apartment. Overall it was a good experience and we enjoyed our stay and we would recommend the condo and additional towels, we would just recommend that you bring a hair dryer and additional towels if you need them.
We had a great time at this apartment. It's really big and spacious. It was kept lovely and warm for our arrival. We were late by a day from a canceled flight and our host was really good and suggested some lovely restaurants for us to go to. It's a great location if you want to go traveling around. Easy to find and close to Reykjavik. Excellent response time from the host too which is great when your next wifi spot is an hour away. Thanks for letting us stay!
The apartment was as listed, in a very good location which was close to the downtown area on a quiet street. All the major sites were within walking distance and there is a major hotel right across the street you can use for pickups if you are doing any organized tours.
Overall it worked out very well for what we needed
The best host that one could want, it was a pleasure to host it and really very nice, clean and educated.I hope one day to have the opportunity to be able to have as my guest.Recommend it to all

Very tidy and nothing but good to say about them ;)
I met Steinar while on a Reykjavík stopover in the summer of 2011 and, while I know him only in the capacity of a host and travel companion, I can nonetheless attest to many great aspects of his character.
Perhaps most relevant for this site and community is his awesome sense of hospitality. Steinar took me in on very short notice and made me feel quite welcome to his lovely flat: an large modern condo that sits right on the harbor Bryggjuhverfið just east of the city center. With a spacious, sleek interior and numerous windows offering beautiful views, Steinar's condo is perfect for visitors who don't want to be stowed away in small hotel rooms but would rather have Iceland at their doorstep...LITERALLY!
Steinar went far above and beyond any expectation that I had as his guest. He joined me for many a walk in town, pointing out people, places and explaining what it meant to be "Icelandic". He even went so far as to take me on a driving tour of some very special places for which Iceland is famous: the Blue Lagoon, Thingvellir National Park and the beautiful lands around Geysir. In truth, Steinar showed me not only the rich culture in Iceland, but also its precious, pristine nature.
Steinar is kind, gentle in spirit, respectful and accepting of all types and walks of life. He is an intelligent lad with stimulating conversations. He knows nearly everybody in town and can likely provide you with some good networking for your stay. Steinar embodies what it means to be Icelandic: modest yet proud, culturally rooted yet progressive, well-traveled and kind at heart.
I recommend him as your host, not just because his flat is an amazing place to stay. But also because he will give you the authentic Icelandic experience, which you will carry in your heart of hearts forever.
