I keep busy in the computer industry but when I want to relax, I find myself out on the ocean. Either fishing, diving, sailing to an exotic destination or just out for an gorgeous afternoon on the water.

A very special yacht in a very special harbor. Boat life has its sacrifices but your hotel room does not float on the water! The yacht club bathroom is nice and the beach is super close. Lots of great food within the harbor.
The boat was nice, though smaller than I expected. Be preared for a night roughing it, with shower facilities outside. It does feel a bit like camping.
Our trip was a hop/skip/jump event. We used Airbnb instead of over night hotel stays. We may be doing ourself injustice. This was a a unique place and we needed more time to get the feel for it. We arrived after dark, I do not recommend this, we left in the dark the next day to arrive at our destination. I wish I could have stayed longer. the Yacht was as described, and beautiful interior. Comfy beds this land lubber was nervous about getting on and off the Yacht took timing and agility. Bring a sweater was chilly near the water. I loved how the yacht gently rocked and feel asleep quickly, which is unusual for me. We saw a great big bird and watched him hunt from the dock. the bonus was distance from the LA area. We left disneyland and got to his place in fare time, other wise we would have had a longer drive to get out of town. Thanks again for letting use have a visit to your Sailing Yacht-sleep under the stars in Oxnard California
Staying on a boat was a unique experience and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The boat was just as it is pictured - beautiful, clean and homey. Watching the sunrise over the marina from the boat was spectacular and probably one of the most beautiful sites in Ventura County. The boat is close to the beach, restaurants, etc. Great location, great boat - great experience. Highly recommend!
Hendrick was a good host, providing me with detailed instructions for everything. The boat is super cool
For two landlubbers, a memorable and enjoyable weekend stay. Hendrik was a responsive, courteous, and helpful host. His instructions and house rules were, understandably, a bit more complicated than required for a stay onshore. Although it was a bit daunting to read over, everything fell into place once we pulled into the yacht club parking lot.
The most enjoyable aspect of the stay was soaking in the marina environment, a place we normally only view passing by or out of a harborside restaurant window. Waking up to the peaceful panorama of boats in the morning was lovely. We found the boat snug and comfortable overall. Due to our inexperience we didn't realize that the deck of a sailboat is chock full of fittings and equipment, so it's not really a place to lounge. Also, it does take a bit of strength and agility to climb aboard, as Hendrik warns in his manual. (We noticed it gets a bit harder once you've had a cocktail or two!). It was quite fascinating because we had a stiff wind for part of the day, with some motion of the boat and a medley of sounds from the rigging etc. flapping in the wind, but at night the wind died down completely, and the boat was still and seemingly solid as a rock.
Below decks, the interior was cozy, pleasant, and dare I say ship-shape? The forward berth was very comfortable. The rear (aft?) berth, where my husband spent part of the night, was fairly uncomfortable due to the low clearance and much firmer mattress, but it wasn't a big deal for our single night stay. We were fine heading up to the yacht club to shower and for all but the most urgent and minimal bathroom needs. Since we didn't cook we have no feedback on using the galley or dining on board. Instead, we dined on a delicious "moqueca"--a stew cooked in a clay pot--at Moqueca, the Brazilian restaurant further down the marina, and a couple of other places also within walking distance in the marina. It was an easy drive up to Santa Barbara the next day for lunch before heading back to L.A.
Overall, having an experience we are unlikely to repeat and will long remember was well worth the bit of extra effort and slight inconvenience that this marine adventure entails.
Hendrick was extremely accommodating -very easy to communicate with -everything was as advertised and we had an amazing weekend!
Great experience for my family. We will just say that my children didn't want to leave and next time our stay will have to be longer. There are restaurants near the boat. The beach is great as long as you can walk the stretch of sand. The dock and amenities are clean and very well kept. All around great experience.

Hendricks and his wife came with their toddler son and their baby girl. The kids were very quiet. They left the studio spotless and very organized
I have known Hendrik since 2003 while living in Santa Barbara and, boy, was I lucky when he bought that gorgeous boat! I had several weekend long trips with him and friends aboard it - memories to last a lifetime out at the Channel Islands, dolphins glowing blue while riding the bow wave, kelp forest diving around the islands, and late night evenings eating and drinking well under the stars. Hendrik is a very intelligent, fun, safe and conscientious host! The boat is fully equipped for an excellent evening under the stars. I cannot wait for my next visit back to California to meet up with him once again!
I've sailed with Hendrik and stayed on his yacht quite a few times, and it's gorgeous! The accommodations down below are luxuriously comfortable and clean, and it's a neat alternative to a hotel: the soothing sounds of water lapping over the hull at night soothe you to sleep, while the morning light from the porthole right above the bed wakes you up gradually and kindly. The head (bathroom) on the boat is a little tricky to operate, so it's great that there's keyed access to private marina showers and restrooms not 30 seconds away. Hendrik is a fountain of helpful tips and information for his guests. There are many good restaurants to choose from around the marina - eg. the charthouse - and the LA freeways are about 5 min. away if you want to explore further a field.
If you're looking for an interesting alternative to a hotel, and want to feel connected to nature without actually roughing it in a tent, staying on Hendrik's yacht is the way to go.
