I had a very nice stay at Joanna's house. The house is clean and convenient, The house is also in a good locatio, 2 metro stations from Union station. I would recommend it.
Even if I had some problems with the lockbox at the beginning, she was ready to help me even if I had to call her late at night on a weekday.
What was just a bit inconvenient was that we couldn't have full time access to the washing machine/dryer. So you should bring clothes for one week+
The space is a good deal. Staying at a row house gives you the real Washington experience. Trinidad is a special neighborhood that feels like old DC(that's rare nowadays). People in the community are nice and genuine. The place has a unique charm. Joanna went out of her way to check-in on us. Dropped by on a special event to say 'hi'. The basement was a perfect temperature during a stay in mid-July. Things were good in the spot. I would certainly come back and I would recommend it to friend. What else can I say? Not bad at all.
The apt is a little rough around the edges, the 'finished' basement seemed like a fast job. I did appreciated having a fridge and kitchen sink. I would reiterate that there isn't AC so I imagine it would be really hot mid-summer.
H street is neat, some good restaurants and coffee. And there was a city bike share station about a 5min walk from the apt.
But the immediate neighborhood around the apt is a little difficult, most people were friendly but there was a group of kids who yelled at us on two occasions and made me feel scared.
Joanna's house is a great place to stay, as you have a great level of privacy as well as access to a well stocked kitchen, lovely dining room and comfortable lounge. It is not too far from the centre of DC, and close to H street, where there a lot of cool restaurants and bars. Everyone in the neighbourhood is friendly and welcoming. Joanna isn't in the house much, but is an easy host to contact and very friendly. If you want a place where you can feel self-sufficent and comfortable, within a reasonable distance of the heart of DC, this is a great choice for you.
Great place in an interesting neighbourhood, H street is not too far away, there is a bus stop really close if you want to catch it, we got cabs into the city most times then got around using the metro.
The neighbourhood was great, the apartment was great for 2 people, very clean and comfortable. Although we didn't meet Joanna in person she was very helpful via messaging online. Happy to stay again :)
Enjoyed my stay. Comfortable, tidy and spacious. Joanna is a great host. Definitely recommend it and will come back for future stays.
Had a great sty at Joanna's place. While the neighbourhood was initially a huge culture shock for me, the area is great, close to food/bars on H St and an easy 10 minute bus ride (from just around the corner) to Union Station. Met Joanna once and she was very welcoming and very available via text during my stay.
Very spacious with private kitchen and bathroom. Only short walk to bus that brings you to the train station in 10min! Large grocery store few blocks away. Private spot to park your car, very nice.
Place looked recently renovated. Still an old house, but yet very good experience.
Joanna's place was great! Spacious and private with it's own entrance, bathroom, and kitchen area. There was a grocery store right down the road so we stocked up on breakfast items and snacks since there was a mini-fridge, microwave, plate and cups! The TV in the living room area made her place nice to relax in when we didn't want to be out in the city. Great place!
Joanna was great! Due to a change in my travel plans I needed to make a reservation quickly, and Joanna was extremely responsive. She was helpful, and I was very pleased with the apartment.
Joanna, was a lovely guest. She communicated well, took care of our apartment and left it in perfect order. We would of course welcome her back any time.
I met Joanna 2.5 years ago and we immediately hit it off. She is a
friendly and fun lady with many interests and lots of interesting
things to say. Her house is lovely melange of historic DC and modern
flair. It is inviting and comfortable, and situated just a few blocks
from the famous H Street / Atlas District, a cultural center of the
city currently experiencing an urban renaissance. President Obama
just ate dinner there a few days ago!
I highly recommend staying at Joanna's house on your trip to the city!
