We were two couples staying in Cabin 2 for a long weekend in March. The cabin was excellent, we particularly liked the lovely views and the living area - the cabin is very spacious for 4 people, and could fit 6-8 people quite comfortably.
The only slight issue we encountered was that the doors were quite stiff to open as we first arrived, maybe because it was blowing an icy gale that night! Don't despair, just give it a gentle push :)
The location is very good for the Golden Circle, maybe a little bit out for other destinations, such as Jökulsárlón - which we managed to visit anyway (long trip though!)
We also managed to use the hot tub one night, which was great. Ingimar's cabin manual was very helpful, and directions to the cabin also very good.
I would highly recommend Ingimar's cabin for a stay outside of the city. The setting is grand, with a panoramic view of the wide plains surrounded by some majestic peaks. The cabin itself is very cosy and clean, and has all of the basic things you might need for cooking and relaxing. The accommodations are comfortable, and the hot tub is great on a chilly evening.
The cabin is well situated for making trips to Geysir and Gulfoss as mentioned, and is also good as a point of departure to get to the national parks. A 4x4 vehicle will handle the gravel roads much better to these destinations as they can be very bumpy and snowy in the winter. The gravel road to get to the cabin is not so long, and if traveling along the main south coast road a 2 wheel drive car would do.
Ingimar communicated very quickly and clearly about the reservation... altogether it was a very good experience. Would stay again on another visit. Thanks!
We just spent 4 nights in the lower cabin and had an amazing time. The cabin was very well equipped with kitchen supplies and other necessary amenities. Ingimar was an incredibly helpful host and provided a very informative cabin manual in advance of our stay.
The location of the cabin is really fantastic - convenient to all the sights of the Golden Circle. And the views from the balcony and hot tub weren't too bad either.
We would definitely recommend this cabin to others traveling to Iceland. And would also echo the recommendations to hire a 4x4 and stop for groceries and other supplies on your way through Selfoss.
Ingimar's place was perfect for Golden Circle sightseeing. It had plenty of room, well stocked and clean. We loved the hot tub and the large deck around the cabin. We were there in winter and we saw the Northern Lights. It would also be a great summer cabin.
We are just back from 5 wonderful nights at the cabin and have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful, perfectly located, spacious accommodation for anyone wishing to visit the golden circle and surrounding areas of Iceland. We were fortunate enough that the Northern Lights performed the most wonderful display the moment we arrived and we sat on the balcony watching for them for the next 2 hours before unpacking.
The following morning we woke to the most beautiful view of the mountain ranges ahead.
Lovely warm cabin with excellent facilities and Ingimar is a most helpful host with lots of info supplied prior to arrival.
The only fault is ours in that we didn't spend enough time enjoying the cabin fully as there's so much to see.....that however can be rectified next time we visit!
Top tips for Iceland, hire a 4x4, regardless of weather conditions, make your own sandwiches, suffer the long journey to Jokulsarlon (it's worth it) check out dog sledding and keep your eyes to the sky.
We had a wonderful time in Ingimar's cabin!!! We stayed for four nights, the cabin had everything we needed - the hot tub was very easy to use, plenty of space and a beautiful view of the mountains. We also saw the Northern Lights perfectly on one night (from the hot tub, no less), made four daily trips to the waterfalls (Gulfoss, Skogafoss, etc.), geysirs (Sokkur), Blue Lagoon (hot spring) and Pingvellir (rift between the two continents) and the ocean. The cabin was perfectly located for these sightseeing trips! We rented a four-wheel drive Jeep which was very helpful for the gravel roads, and for easier access to some of the sights. Also, Fludir (the town nearby) has a small convenience store and there's WIFI at the Icelandair Hotel which you can use for free.
Before we arrived, Ingimar gave us a perfect description of how to get to the cabin (very detailed and thought-through), how to use the gadgets at the cabin. We felt very much at home and didn't worry about anything! Thanks for that, Ingimar! We would definitely recommend this wonderful cabin to other travelers - it was a perfect experience for us!
Wow!!!! What a beautiful place!! Exceptional surroundings. I actually don't know what to say. I miss the place and am depressed to leave. I want to go back immediately. The home was warm, beautiful, cosy and perfect. The scenery was breath taking. The hot tub and barbecue were perfect to use. We saw the northern lights from the hot tub. This place is highly recommended and I will return again this year. I urge everyone to stay at this place. Ingimar is very very helpful. I really don't know what else to say 10 out of 10!!! We ate the local foods which were delicious, everyone in Iceland were very friendly. I highly recommend you stay here, you will love it guaranteed! !

This place is as advertised. A nicely equipted vacation cabin. Nice location on hillside near Fludir. Great location for exploring all the south central Iceland site and nice spot for just relaxing. My family stayed 3 days in January and could not have enjoyed it more.
We absolutely enjoyed our stay at the cabin, Ingimar was available and very helpful for our stay. We stayed for 3 nights in January 2013. This place is central and ideal for activities in the South. We also had the privilege of watching Northern Lights no further than on the front deck. The view was breathtaking and inspiring since it has a large vista from West to East. The mountain view at sunrise is immaculate. The cabin is clean, efficient and cozy. You must consider staying at this cabin, I know I will come back next time around.
