Not on Isla at the mooment, but it's great to be there! Enjoy your vacation, Fabio.
Had great stay at La Rinconada. Clean and quiet ..centrally located
Grazie Claudio and Fabio
We enjoyed Fabio and Claudio's apartment. It looks like they have 5 apartments and each seems to have a different layout. Our apartment was spacious with a living room/kitchen area, bedroom, and bathroom. It was clean and well maintained. The air conditioning seemed to work well, but we visited when it was not very hot.
The kitchen was well stocked with a two-burner gas stovetop, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, pots, pans, bowls, strainers, utensils, plates, cups, 1x 5-gallon water bottle, and some condiments (salt, pepper, olive oil), plus dish soap, rag and towel. The bathroom included plush towels. There was a small safe to lock up money/valuables. The bed is firm as described. We liked that the apartment was not in the centro area as it was not busy, though we had to take a taxi to get to the north beaches about 2 miles away. We did haggle with the taxis to get a 30 peso fare since they would charge 40-50 pesos for the centro area. As indicated in another write up, the shower drain is now covered, and there are doors on the shower so it keeps water off the floor. The water pressure isn't the best, but it's Mexico and it was hot. Throughout the night you could hear local and stray dogs barking and there were rooster though the bathroom blocked their noise.
We loved the Caribbean Brisas restaurant across the street and ended each day there with a bucket of beers and guacamole. We also enjoyed finding the local bakery a couple of blocks away and we could walk to the large supermarket, Chedraui. The Guadalupe Chapel (Capilla de Guadalupe) was beautiful as it overlooks the ocean.
Fabio was away but was always very fast at answering questions over email and provided great recommendations for places to go to like Capitan Dulche's museum (they have a great secluded beach on the south side that's quiet!). Claudio was on site and provided help as needed, but he was hard to track down with his work, but Fabio was still available online.
Some of the guests stayed at La Rinconada for 1-3 months, so you can see how many people enjoy staying there. If you want to be in the middle of the action, this place isn't it, but if you want to be away from the loud city and tourists, than this is the place. When arriving, the La Rinconada sign is currently missing so we had to find the blue front by driving down the street with the taxi. Taxi's know the chapel and Mango Cafe as Fabio will provide instructions. Fabio also did a great job providing instructions for arrival from the airport to the water taxi to the hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The host took time to check on us and tell us everything we needed to know about the island. The apartment is all you really need and there's even a rooftop where any guest can relax. And they provide free drinkable water!
It's close to a little stores to buy food and a big supermarket you can walk to. Across the street there are two good places to eat and in the corner there's a café to brunch (but without wifi in case you wanna work).
We went on winter so the close beaches were too rocky and we had to take a 100 pesos roundtrip cab each day to the main beach which is very, very touristy. You can also walk all the way to Playa Norte but is kind of far.
The apartment is fully equiped and perfect for a coupple. It's true that is noisy cause it's in a street where tons of cabs and mops go by but it's not necessarily a turn off. The bed is too firm and the sheets could be better.
The apartment was very cozy, comfortable, and spacious. The a/c worked well. He provided fresh 5 gallon water. It had a nice patio for us to lounge and dry out towels. Taxi cab drives either way on the island since we were in the middle only ran 40-50pesos like 3-4 USD. A wonderful vacation. There are severL eat places but our favorite was mango cafe followed bt Bahama mama diagonally a crossed the street. We also went to Garafone de Castilla which I highly recommend as it is a small private beach where you can snorkel safely with out a boat guide.
My sister and I stayed in La Rinconada apartamentos and absolutely loved our time here! The apartments are clean, spacious, and have everything you need. It was really nice that we had clean drinking water, free fast wifi, hot water, a private balcony, and a beautiful roof deck. I loved being away from the "touristy" areas of the island. These apartments are in the best location. We were a 3 min walk to great beaches, local restaurants, and stores. Isla Mujeres is gorgeous. I definitely want to come back!
We had a great time at Isla Mujeres, thanks to the nice, well equipped apartement and Claudio who was very helpful. We would stay here again if we go back, and give our best recommendations to others.
Super cute apartment away from the major tourist area! Mango Cafe is at the corner and Monchie's restaurant - which is excellent - is across the street. You can walk to the grocery store as well. Otherwise you'll need a moped or a golf cart. Or, take advantage of the super cheap taxis on the island. When you're at the apartment, be sure you don't miss the rooftop lounge. We didn't realize it was there until our last night. (I was at a conference for much of our stay, so at least I have an excuse!) You don't have immediate beach access here, but it's worth being off the beaten path to get away from all the tourists especially if you're going in high season. The apartment sits on one of the island's few through streets, so you'll get a lot of cars, taxis, mopeds and golf cars coming through .. didn't bother me at all, but my husband is a light sleeper. All in all, it was a great find!
We stayed at La Rinconada for 7 nights and loved it! Great, quiet location to walk around the island and experience life on this great little island. The apartment had everything we needed and love the fact that there was a great little restaurant just across the road. We will recommend La Rinconada to our air B&B friends.
Thank you for a great stay!
The appartment to the fullest lived up to the expectations. We really loved the appartment which have a nice bathroom, a functional kitchen for cooking breakfast and light dinners and generally nice place to hang out. We also enjoyed the common tarrace.
The location is also very good - located in a residential area, which is nice as food comes good and cheap.
In addition - We found it very nice that Fabio provided us with a purified watertank so we didnt have to drag the water ourselves :)
Thanks for a great stay.. We will definately reccomend this place to anyone.
Great apartment, had the best time with my wife and 4 year old daughter. The apartment is in the center of the island, we walked everywhere when we were in the mood to enjoy nature and could catch a taxi to anywhere in the island for 30-40 pesos.
Wife was very happy with the apartment and wants to go back, as does our daughter!
As for the island, it was so much better than Cancun. We went over for a daytrip once, in addition to another visit to Chichen Itza, and we were so glad we ended up on Isla Mujeres instead of Cancun - was a totally different experience.
