Joshua's apartment was the perfect place for us to stay. Prospect Park with the Brooklyn Museum and Botanical Gardens are basically around the corner. There are lots of wonderful coffee shops and restaurants nearby and Joshua's recommendations were extremely helpful when making choices and exploring the area. The apartment was immaculate, spacious and provided a great base for our visit. The location is near the subway which is convenient and creates some authentic New York background noise! We would definitely stay at the apartment the next time we visit Brooklyn!
We really enjoyed the cleanliness, spaciousness and decor of this apartment. The location was convenient since it was close to subway stops but also it was situated close to the Botanical garden and the walk there and beyond to different neighborhoods was really lovely. The amenities were great and the place was very warm and welcoming especially the living room. Had we planned to cook, the kitchen would have been very useful since it was very spacious and had enough cookware. Josh recommended local places to grab some food and we tried them out (even saw him on our last day at Cheryl's Global Soul!! haha) Renting was a great experience and I would definitely consider this location again.
My stay at Joshua's place was wonderful. The apartment is incredibly roomy and has great decor.
The bed was comfy, the bathroom spotless and Joshua's decor is very cool. I enjoyed his books and DVD collection during my stay, which was a nice bonus. The guy has good taste!
I found the location worked really well as I could take a 20-minute walk to see a friend in Park Slope and the subway was convenient.
I noticed a few other reviews mentioned the subway train noise. It's noticeable, but quickly becomes part of the soundscape of the neighborhood.
I had trouble getting on the internet with my laptop, but Joshua let me know there's a trick to it for Mac users.
Joshua was very responsive, accommodating and gracious in all of our correspondence.
I'd definitely recommend his place to anyone who wants to get a taste for Brooklyn -- my favorite of the boroughs.
I want to start off by saying we had a great trip visiting our daughter and enjoying the sights of NYC - especially being part of the 70th b'day celebration of John Lennon at Strawberry Fields!! We want to thank Josh for giving us the opportunity to stay at his very cozy and quaint apt!! It was very clean and organized and I enjoyed looking at your fabulous book collection....we had one small incident (our car was towed away early saturday morning because of a parade) but we were able to locate the police who directed us to our vehicle on Washington St.... everything was smooth sailing after that!!! The noise of the subway going by was disconcerting at first, but you soon got used to it and the fan of the AC drowned out most of the city noises that us "country folk" aren't used to!! The only suggestion I would make for further stays was adding cable to the tv as my husband likes turning on the tv to get sports scores and weather and my daughter tried hooking her laptop up to the internet cable but couldn't access any sites without passwords.... other than that, it was perfect!!! Thanks so much Josh for opening up your apt to us..Hopefully our daughter will be hanging around at Pratt for three more years!!!!
The unit was ready at the agreed time and very clean. Joshua showed me around the unit and made sure I had everything I needed. The unit was large enough for 3 of us and very close to the subway that takes you into the city. Overall a great experience.
Hi Joshua, thanks for letting us stay in your apartment. The apartment is awesome...spacious, very clean and you are very nice and helpful. We left a check for $90 (last night's stay) on your desk. Thanks again and we might see you next time, Caecilie & Domingo
The one bedroom was unusually spacious for New York, even the kitchen. Quite clean and comfortable. Great location near Prospect Park, Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Botanica Garden, and several other Brooklyn neighborhoods.
The kitchen was very well equipped, lots of sundries available if you wanted to cook (we opted to go out, except for coffee and fruit in the mornings). Bathroom was exceptionally clean, and the bedroom was huge, very comfortable bed. Lots of closet space to hang clothes. Unfortuately, no TV channels, but a DVD player available. Lots of interesting books to browse through, and the living room was exceptionally comfortable and large. We will be staying here again!
We had a great time in Josh's apartment! He provided an excellent map of the neighborhood with recommended places to eat, drink and play. We only ended up making breakfast a few time (too many great places to eat!) but his kitchen was stocked with all the basic staples and at least one good knife which I have been completely at a loss to find in most rentals. He even left us iced coffee on our first day which was lovely.
The entire apartment was immaculately clean. I can't say the same thing about the rest of the building but that seems an acceptable compromise. The location is ideal if you are interested in Brooklyn, close to Prospect Park, etc.
Out of respect for his stuff, I wouldn't say it's exactly child-friendly but we were able to constrain the little terror and no one was the worse for wear. Except for a shampoo bottle but that was entirely my fault!
Added bonus: if you are a bibliophile or a design-buff, his book shelves are very interesting, diverse and in dewy-decimal order!
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at Joshua's apartment. The space is wonderful, and filled with endless amounts of interesting bits of culture, architecture, and of course literature.
Subway stations were within two blocks making it a convenient location. The Brooklyn Flea, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, the farmers market, and the Brooklyn library and museum were all within walking distance.
The neighborhood was a little crazy when we stayed at the apartment because of the Labor Day Parade, but overall we felt safe and would probably stay in Brooklyn again.
Definitely a great place to stay. Will always recommend this to friends.
I don't think the pictures do this place justice. It was a wonderful stay that felt like home. God, he brought breakfast on our last day (may not happen for everyone :). And what a great bed this guy has, and I love the little jars he turned into glasses. I would stay again!!!
