I am a retired software engineer, living in Palo Alto, across the street from Stanford University. I've been in the area over 30 years and love it, particularly the diversity here; every corner of the world is represented. (I guess earth doesn't actually have corners, but you know what I mean.) I especially appreciate the restaurants and specialty markets the many cultures have engendered.
My interests are varied and eclectic as you would see from my music and book collections. I enjoy concerts, plays, film, art museums, and cooking. I guess my very favorite past-time is reading (mostly mysteries), although I'm also an avid TV fan.
Travel is a passion, but I'm not able to do as much as I would like since I retired. When I do go, my style is to explore, to learn, and to immerse myself in the culture and meet people. I seldom go on tours, preferring to plunk myself down in a cafe, or to chat in my broken French to a Parisian sales person, not hurried by other people's schedules. I'm not into touch-and-go cruises for seeing the world, but one of the most wonderful vacations I've ever had was an Atlantic crossing on the Queen Mary in 2006. Although not fluent in other languages, I am somewhat conversant and can "get by" in French and Spanish.
As a guest in your home, I will be quiet, neat, clean, polite, tidy, respectful, and flexible. As Your hostess in My home, I'll be all those things plus welcoming, hospitable, and helpful.
