We are a semi-retired couple overjoyed to be living in the country and wanting to share Casa de Milagros (Home of Miracles) as a retreat for family, friends and 'soon to be friends' -- You! Casa is only a few hours from the Bay Area or Sacramento! Lake County wines have been fetching top honors and gold ribbons in the recent years. Get away from the pretensions and high prices of Napa County and plan a visit to Lake County and stay at Casa de Milagros. Find out for yourself what a great night's sleep you will get and just how relaxed you can be!!!
WE LOVE LAKE COUNTY! Lake County has the cleanest air in California and is one of the top three most clean air counties in the USA. The county's biodiversity is really quite astounding --- Lake County was recently ranked as one of the 25 most bio diverse places on the planet. Experience one of the only remaining rural counties in California and enjoy the longest lingering sunsets from the comfort of the sizable deck of Casa de Milagros.
Clear Lake is a large lake centered right in the middle of the county and is a geologic miracle. It is a the west coast's best sport fishing lake boasting numerous 'big bucks' fishing tournaments throughout the year. Don't like to fish??? that's OK, there are numerous places around the lake to rent canoes, kayaks, jet ski or motor boats.
Visit the Lake County Museum (on Court House Square in Lakeport) and learn about the geology of the lake, our sleeping volcano Mount Konocti and the indigenous people that have been living around the lake for the last 12,000 years. Now days the Pomo people offer guests to the county a variety of gambling options, musical entertainment and a choice of restaurants.
We love the out of doors, gardening, people and animals. Barbara is a typical rural entrepreneur keeping a number of balls in the air to keep the wolves at bay. She manages Casa and consults with non-profits and native tribes, manages the local community mediation program and maintains the Casa grounds, buildings and gardens. Rosamaria is a retired psychotherapist; she still keeps her hand in the trade by leading small seminars on living day to day with a spiritual perspective.
We have a matronly chocolate labrador (VERY friendly to 2 and 4 legged creatures -- except cats!) We also have a cat that wants to make sure she is heard. Meoooooow!.
