We're thrilled to be able to share our lovely river house with people who enjoy the outdoors mixed with comfort and style as much as we do.

The host was very quick to answer all questions, and very accommodating to switch dates. The cabin and environment were pristine.
My wife and I had an amazing week at the River House.
First of all, the river was stunning. We spent many lovely afternoons sitting in the sun listening to the water go rushing past or watching a couple of lazy blue herons as they swooped up and down the river banks. I even dropped a line into the slower moving sections and pulled out (and threw back) a nice bass. Really gorgeous spot.
The cottage itself is exactly as advertised. Nice and cozy. Homey without being cluttered and with just enough of the creature comforts of home. Everything was simple, modern, well maintained and super clean.
We made good use of all the amenities including the canoe, fire pit and bbq.
The neighbours are very quiet and respectful; we hardly noticed them at all.
A convenient store stocked with many cottage essentials is located just 10 min drive away and Mikisew Provincial Park with some nice hiking trails is about 30 mins away.
We had such a wonderful time at the River House that it made it difficult to leave. We'll definitely be back!
We had a great time at the cottage. It was clean and stocked with most of the things one needs for country living. Michel and Renee were very friendly and quick to respond to our questions. We felt like we were in good hands.
You may want to consider picking up some ice, a cooler and water bottles should the power go out. On one of the days the wind took out a line and we lost power for 7 hours. You can't use the tap without power because the water pump is electric.
There is Internet but it's on an expensive cellular connection so if you want to watch online videos, download or stream, you may want to pre-download before visiting our use your own phone network of you get a signal.
The area outside is very nice. The water is great to watch and makes for a nice scenic shot of you're into photography, drawing or painting.
There is also a cute dog that may come around to visit. We only saw him once though :P.
We had a wonderful time at this property! The cottage itself is clean, modern, and very well appointed. It had all of the amenities we required, plus extras that I would not have expected but very much appreciated (such as the canoe). The area surrounding the cottage is absolutely stunning. It was very relaxing to listen to the sound of the rapids all day (not to mention it put our 6 month old to sleep!). Michel and Renee left us very detailed instructions about the property and surrounding community so we felt well equipped to enjoy our stay there.
The nearby town of Magnetewan is lovely and has a great beach and a wonderful weekly farmers' market. The gallery owned by the cottage caretakers (Windows to the North Gallery) is fabulous and during our stay at the cottage had a wonderful event for Pride. We were very pleased to find such progressive politics and community spirit in a rural area.
We had an amazing time at The River House. It's the perfect location for a romantic getaway--private, comfortable, and nestled in nature. Inside, we enjoyed the modern, clean design and the well-equipped kitchen. Outside, we were awed by the amazing chutes. They were so much more dramatic than we expected! It was wonderful to lay out on the rocks and admire them in the sun, or listen to their power through an open window, or admire the view even from the couch! We'd highly recommend this cozy getaway and we hope to return in another season.
One of the most special places we've stayed in. Location is unbelievable. The house's front yard faces a rushing river over some gentle falls. Breathtaking to be that close to nature. The house itself is perfect for a couple, three adults or parents with two kids. It has been perfectly equipped with everything one might need for a few nights in the Great Canadian Wilderness. Kitchen in particular is (website hidden) was a joy. We went canoeing on the lake, and long walks on the roads. The artist's gallery a short drive away is definitely worth a visit.
The River House is a perfect, romantic getaway with a side of adventure - which is exactly what we needed and everything we hoped for. The rapids are not only mesmerizing, but the rushing sound of the water is also very relaxing. We even kept our window open to let the sound sooth us to sleep every night.
We spent our days out and about in the canoe, searching for fishing spots, reading by the rapids and prepping meals in the well-equipped kitchen all while taking in the spectacular view.
The house is very clean and cozy with everything you need. When we had questions before and during our stay, Michel was very helpful and quick to respond. Thanks Michel & Renee the lovely stay. It was a real pleasure.
'Stylish Modern River House' is everything the listing promises--inviting, clean and well-equipped.
The view of Poverty Bay Chutes is spectacular, and it enchanted us completely, whether we were enjoying it from the vantage point of the kitchen table, the 'bear chairs' on the deck, or while sunbathing on the rocks right beside the falls. This breathtaking view was definitely the highlight of our stay.
Our hosts made us feel welcome and were a pleasure to deal with. Helpful information about the cottage and the area was at hand, and responses to inquiries were prompt and courteous.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and wholeheartedly recommend this cottage to others.
We spent a wonderful 5 days at the River House. This was our first family holiday away with our 5 year old son and the River House provided a perfect base camp for our explorations. We spent our days exploring the river looking for the best fishing spots, tramping through the woods and lane ways searching for mushrooms and creepy crawly's. The cabin was everything we could have asked for. Comfortable, well laid out, nicely put together and full of thoughtful little touches that made our stay perfectly relaxing. Last but certainly not least, the view of the chutes was simply breathtaking!
We found Michel and Renee were more than helpful with any questions we had about the property and the surrounding area. I would not hesitate to recommend this spot to anyone.
Michel was a pleasure to have stay. She knew her way around and was always on the go. I would welcome her to any location in the future.
Tim was a wonderful guest. I would highly recommend him.
