We're thrilled to be able to share our lovely river house with people who enjoy the outdoors mixed with comfort and style as much as we do.

We loved the River House! We spent a week here after our wedding, and did nothing but read on the comfy couch, canoe in the lovely river just up the way, and swim - close to the house, and on the fun little beach right in Magnetawan. Even on the couple of rainy days, the wood stove, satellite radio and dvd player made the river house a great place to be. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen had lots of great tools (grater, big heavy pots and pans, lots of knives etc). The river is stunning and you have full view of it from inside the house, on the little viewing ledge down the steps, and from the rocks right beside it. We're thinking about coming back in the winter....
The reservation was canceled 8 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
We had such a great time at the River House. It is private, cozy and very elegant. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
The River House was everything we expected. Well appointed, charming, and most of all relaxing. All the touches of home on a quiet street with canoeing and the falls mere steps away. Thanks Michel!
Another fabulous time at the river cottage! This was our second stay and we will certainly make in an annual one. Michel and Renee we very easy to work with. The views were spectacular as always! Everything was available in the cottage (linens, kitchen utensils, etc.), which made our stay seamless. Thanks again Michel and Renee!
The second we arrived at this place we were enchanted. Captivated by the incredible rapids, we ran down for a closer look and became giddy as schoolchildren. Upon recovering our wits we were further delighted to find a spotlessly clean and tastefully appointed cabin, with spectacular views from nearly every window and crisp white linens on the beds. During our week-long stay we swam the rapids, enjoyed morning coffee on the "lower deck," read and sunned ourselves senseless on the rock, slept in the rustic and completely comfortable tent, watched storms pass by from the comfort of the living room, hung out in front of the campfire and prepared memorable meals in the kitchen, which had everything we needed. There is an excellent farmer's market in Magnetawan with a great selection of smoked meats and cheeses, and grocery stores and the LCBO are all within a very reasonable distance. Michel and Renee were warm, hospitable and accommodating from the very first, and we felt their presence in the many small touches throughout the cabin, from helpful notes to pantry staples to the lovely bottle of wine that awaited us in the fridge. I can't imagine a better place or better hosts, and I am so grateful that they decided to allow others to enjoy such a magical place.
Stylish Modern River House. A more apt name could not be applied, although 'Immaculate Northern Solitude' might work, or 'Peaceful Perch Over Poverty Chutes' would certainly be well-suited. The name and alluring profile shot may get some to dig a little deeper in their search for the perfect northern getaway, but what the uninitiated should know is that this only tells a sliver of the story. We just returned from our time at the 'River House' and were impressed that it not only met all of our basic requirements (clean, open layout, tidy, etc.), it exceeded our hopes in terms of what you might ever expect from a 'cottage' - right down to modern Scandinavian furniture and decorative elements, which of course are not required but make a day inside watching a storm even more enjoyable. You are surrounded by the powerful whoosh of the Poverty Chutes which is framed by the floor-to-ceiling windows - which was just as beautiful under the moonlight as it was when it provided us with a couple dinners of beautiful smallmouth bass. There are simply no shortage of spots to tuck your self away and read a book or simply layout and relax. The rocks next to he river are expansive and provide the perfect locale to catch some rays and take in the sights and sounds, while a perfectly perched deck about half-way down the hill is fitted with two Muskoka chairs which is certainly the VIP room of this place. S'mores around the vintage Acorn Fireplace, afternoon naps on the deck, long swims on the Magnetawan, falling asleep to the sound of the river, watching a storm through the best 'big screen' I know - all made for a phenomenal trip. It should be said as well that as open and inviting as River House is, Michel and Renee were equally as gracious and accommodating. All the correspondence has been incredibly speedy and informative and made us feel at home immediately. We make no hesitation in recommending this place to anyone who wants to experience a magnificent piece of the north while not abandoning all of the comforts or design sensibilities of home.
My girlfriend and I spent 9 days up at River House. It was the perfect, well appointed, and uber comfortable cottage we were looking for. On the weekends couple-friends of ours took the other bedroom and there was more than enough space for 4 people.
The Magnetawan river rapids were a real highlight. Taking a book and sitting by the rapids was ideal.
Great amenities and a well equipped kitchen and BBQ.
A great stay.
My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the river house. It was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family. Thank you Michel and Renee.
My wife and I had a fantastic week at the River House! Michel and Renee kept in excellent contact with us and we felt very confident in the quality of the place even before we got there. When we arrived there was a gift in the fridge and everything was clean and well presented. The canoe, barbecue, and wood fireplace were all great touches that made for a relaxing and fun week.
Everything about the River House was exactly what we hoped for in a Northern cottage getaway!
Tim was a wonderful guest. I would highly recommend him.
