Although my husband and I are both over 60, we are newlyweds. He started life in NJ and lived a long time on the East Coast. I started life in Arkansas and grew up all over the world, as my father was in the Air Force.
We both love travel, with beautiful beach areas being our favorite. Sometimes when we travel, we enjoy road trips, where we get to see much more of the local culture. We had a great time driving around Costa Rica a few years ago.
Having retired once, my husband is now a visiting professor at law schools around the US. In the last two years, I went back to school to pick up some education hours to receive my teaching certification ... I always wanted to be a Spanish teacher and thought I could substitute teach wherever we happen to move. Having subbed a bit, I may change my mind and decide to do volunteer work where I can use my bilingual skills.
A good bit of our free time revolves around music. My husband is the musician and I'm the grateful audience ... he plays trombone and is usually in several groups. Jazz, big band music, and concert band music are among his favorites. It's also a great way to meet nice people wherever we go.
My philosophy of life comes from a great James Taylor song ... the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time.
