La casa estaba muy bien y muy bien situada
Thalia (email hidden) who ensured a very lovely stay in a great apartment.
très bonne situation, à 5mn à pied de l'Acropole. Accueil très chaleureux, et de bons conseils. Appartement conforme à la description, prix un peu élevé par rapport au standing...
Nous sommes cependant très satisfaits de notre séjour !
Thalia's place is every bit the aristocratic Grande Dame! Fourteen foot ceilings, wood floors, balconies, airy, bright, elegant and relaxed. From the balcony you can see the sea to the left with the island of Salamina in the misty distance, to the right you will see the Acropolis. Straight ahead and up the stairs is Filappapou Hill with the monument to the muses which can also be seen from the window. There is a wonderful wooded park up there with walking paths which meander down past Socrates prison to the road to the Acropolis.
A short block away and glance right to see the Herodatticus Theatre. Easy walking distance to two metro stations, minutes walk to Plaka, the Acropolis Museum and on to Monasteraki. There are cafes and tavernas of every description from relaxed traditional fare to high end cuisine.
Groceries, wine and convenience stores within minutes. The best bakery, "Takis" just at the end of the street and every Friday is an amazing farmers' market just one block below the apartment where you can buy anything from clothes pegs to fresh fish, olives, oranges, vegetables and flowers.
The apartment is enormous with a large desk/table that has doubled nicely for a dinner for four. The kitchen is eat in and efficient. We created some grand meals here!
Thalia is host par excellence, wonderfully welcoming and easy to talk to. She answered our many questions before booking and was here to welcome us when we arrived.
In our month here we fell in love with the apartment and this very special neighbourhood. We will call Thalia's place home any time we are in Athens - if it is available - that is!
