I am an American living in NZ. I run a sailing charter business in the tourism industry between October and April. I enjoy meeting new people and have a strong interest in the arts.
Excellent accomodation in Russel. Robin is a great host!
I had a fantastic stay at Robin and Ricks apartment. It was clean and spacious , and they were very welcoming and helpful! Highly recommend also their sailing tour as well, definitely worth a day trip on their boat the Phantom.
Lovely apartment and Robin and Rick were lovely hosts. Unfortunately we didn't have time/ availability to experience their boat which was the only regret we had! Listing description was accurate and pictures accurate also. Ideal location - only several minutes drive from beaches and the town centre.
We enjoyed our stay with Robin and Rick despite the weather being less than ideal. The house is lovely and well equipped so we didn't mind staying in and having a relaxing day while it was storming outside. As described, it is very close to the centre of town. Especially loved the spacious bathroom and the super comfortable bed. Perfect accommodation and location for exploring the Bay of Islands, thanks Robin and Rick!
Russell is a lovely small town in Bay of Islands surrounded by many wonderful beaches. A perfect place to have a relaxing holiday.
The apartment had enough space for two people. It is located about 15 min walk away from Russell centre. The kitchen was fully equipped.
Rick and Robin were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming and gave us good tips about the area. They also took us to Phantom (yacht) two times which was a unique experience for us.
Definitely would recommend this place!
We very much enjoyed our stay in Russell and this well kept place was perfect for what we needed with kitchen facilities and spacious bathroom and a little deck with table and chairs outside. It's conveniently located for either walking or driving into Russell where we were well served by numerous places to eat and small shops. Robin and Rick greeted us on arrival and were very helpful with advice etc. We are only sorry that the weather was against us for a sailing trip! Next time ...!
Firstly let's talk about the town of Russell. What a beautiful location. It is a tourist location but this is such a relaxed place. Every one is friendly and casual. Visited the sailing club and fell into a major celebration. There are some big hills who are walked by the brave of heart. Can't say more than such a beautiful place.
Now the property. Just about everything we wanted. It was quiet and relaxing. The newly renovated bathroom is fantastic. We were there for 5 days and the property was perfect for us.
The hosts. Really nice folk who talked us through everything we needed to know. Although they live in the separate accom upstairs, we rarely saw them but they were close by when we had questions or challenges.
Side note. Robin and Rick also run 'the Phantom' sailing boat. We went out with them and had a great day sailing the Bay of Islands.
In short, Fantastic place, Great accommodation, wonderfully friendly people. Do yourself a favour.... Stay at this place. (FYI this was our first AirBNB experience)
The weather was grey at times and the washing machine temperamental, but we very much enjoyed our four nights at this cosy little place in Russell. It looks just like in the photos. We had fun climbing the little ladder to get into the bunk bed, which was very comfortable. The bathroom was absolutely lovely.
A short drive down the hill, the Russell township is a delight, especially the Duke of Marlborough hotel, and there are plenty of good walks nearby.
And the washing? Robin resolved it by pointing us in the direction of a public laundromat in the township, where we were able to do it quickly and efficiently.
We had a lovely, relaxing time.
Thanks Peter, appreciate not mentioning the bread as that was completely impromptu.
Thanks for coming!
Appartement calme situé à 20 min à pieds du centre ville. Jolie vue depuis le lit en hauteur. Nous avons également profité avec plaisir de la croisière en voilier (tour organisé par Robin et Rick).
Rick and Robin were both very friendly and left a notebook in the apartment with lots of info on things to do in the area. Robin let us know about a beautiful, secluded beach that we'd never have found otherwise. Their place was just a 3 minute drive to the main street of Russell where there are plenty of little shops and lovely restaurants. We didn't spend much time in the apartment as we were out and about exploring, but it was a convenient spot to rest at night. Be aware that the bed is elevated and you must climb a ladder to get to it. We enjoyed it and felt like little kiddos on the top bunk, but it might be a problem for some. Overall, great spot to enjoy Russell!
It was a brief enjoyable time with Robin and her son. Very easy going and easy to talk to.
Great guests to have stay! It was nice to meet you both. Thank you for staying.
left house nice and tidy. Thank you
Robin was a great guest, very enjoyable and appreciative, totally reliable and considerate. Along with being excellent company. A gem.
Robin was very interesting, I really enjoyed a fascinating discussion with her and my roommate about what makes us tick!
Robin was a lovely person and a very interesting guest. When 2 ladies come together from a similar/same generation what results is a lot of great conversation - and so it was! In addition Robin was very considerate and tidy. I highly recommend Robin as a guest and would be happy to have her come again anytime!
Robin was a great guest to have stay, very friendly!
