Hi Hugo and I are a retired professional couple who love to travel, read, cook and spend time on our little boat on the estuary.
We love our small grandchildren and love meeting people.
This is a great little space with a very pretty outlook. We were in the Nelson area for four nights (turned out to be 5, actually, as our flight home was cancelled) and this was an almost perfect spot for us to get the R&R we needed. Sue and Hugo are great hosts, and we were welcomed and then given all the privacy we needed. Freshly home-made butter, yoghurt, and bread made our landing all the better. The space is bright, clean, and the bed exceptionally comfortable.
What a wonderful place to stay. We were welcomed when we arrived and given a guided tour. The accommodation was top notch, everything was clean, tidy and very welcoming including the delicious food left for our breakfast. Although the setting was rural it was only a 5 minute drive to Mapua with all its attractions. This was a wonderful Airbnb experience.
Sue and Hugo are wonderful hosts! The little touches like the homemade preserves and yogurt are wonderful. You can tell that Sue and Hugo genuinely enjoy hosting guests. The guest house is exactly as advertised and is beautifully clean and well presented. There is everything there you need for a home away from home. I would not hesitate in recommending the guest house to someone looking for a quiet retreat. We will definitely be back.
Now that we have finished our two week holiday in south island, I can finally call this house our number one airbnb of the whole trip! Sue is very welcoming and helpful. We love the view from the house so much and even changed our plan to stay in for longer during the day time! The barbeque would be very nice to use although we didnt try it. This is a dream house to me and would definitely recommend it to everyone, especially couples!
We had such a fabulous stay at Sue and Hugo's! The unit had everything you needed, was comfortable and nicely appointed. We only stayed one night and had a lovely time watching the sunrise over the estuary while having breakfast. Sue's homemade muesli and yogurt was absolutely delicious! Two thumbs up from us:)
We had a fantastic week at Sue and Hugo's cottage! I would highly recommend staying at their place. They were extremely welcoming and gracious hosts. We enjoyed spending an evening with them chatting and drinking wine. They were very knowledgeable about the area and gave us very good suggestions for places to visit and eat .
The cottage itself is everything they describe, super clean, very well appointed with fantastic views. Excellent stay! Would definitely come again.
Sue and Hugo were perfect hosts, and it was a pleasure meeting them. The recommendations they gave us for the area was spot on. We followed their tips on restaurants, wineries and other activities and enjoyed all of them. The guest house was more than what we expected. It was perfect and spacious. Everything was clean, bathroom was modern, very comfortable bed, kitchen was well equipped and the sitting room was cozy. The views were amazing and a treat to wake up to. Sue makes her own muesli mix, which was great for breakfast, along with the yogurt, bread, butter, honey and delicious lemon jam that was provided. Coffee, tea and cream was also supplied. Sue even took care of our laundry for us so we could enjoy our time being tourists, which we very much appreciated. The front desk has very helpful informational packets about the area that Hugo has put together. They include everything you need to know to have an enjoyable vacation. Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lovely guest house.
Great little place with lovely views. It was perfect for our weekend away. Sue and Hugo were very welcoming and helpful. We'd totally come back :-)
We really have a great time in Sue+Hugo Guest House, the place is very confortable, clean and the view is breathtaking. Sue and Hugo are a lovely couple who do the best to welcome their guest.
We spent only one night, we regret that we may not stay more few days.
The region is worth to stay longer and visit.
Sue and Hugo were very friendly and welcoming and although it would have been nice to get to know them we were trying to cram in sightseeing with visiting relatives and we'd turn up late in the afternoon and leave earlyish in the morning. The accommodation was exactly as described in the listing and photos, with a comfortable bed and quiet room - we slept well. The view was very lovely of the estuary and hills and on the third day the cloud cover lifted so we could see the distant mountains. We had a fairly hectic schedule and we were ideally situated for this in Mapua as it was central to many parts of the Nelson area, rural but close to amenities. Mapua village is lovely. Hugo was very understanding when I damaged an electrical cord ( and he fixed it promptly.) We had a good stay and would recommend this bnb.
Hugo and Sue excellent guests.
They have enjoyed my home and our olive oil.
Regards Mario and family
Sue and her husband were amazing guests. They were very kind, clean and very respectful. They left the apartment in a great condition. I would host them again in a heartbeat!. Thanks
Sue and Hugo were terrific! They are very nice, friendly and open to experience. They left the studio in wonderful shape and we would welcome them back anytime!
I really enjoyed Sue and her husband's stay here. They were very clean and respectful of my home and I enjoyed the conversations we had. I would definitely recommend hosting them. They are a delightful couple.
Great friendly couple. Would make delightful guests wherever they visit. :o)
