Dale and Karren are great hosts and we enjoyed the room in this shared space...although with such great outdoor activities on SLO's doorstep, we didn't spend much time in the house! The house is closely located to wineries, mountains and the downtown area - all of which can be easily reached on one of two bikes that were provided. All round a great experience.
We had a great stay with Dale and Karen. They were very accommodating and the room was as advertised. Unfortunately, we couldn't stay very long but would definitely stay with them again when we're in the area!
Our arrival went as planned and the room was completely ready for us. We enjoyed Dale very much. He was a great host and we would stay there again, if the opportunity arises.
Dale and Karen were amazing hosts. Made my two week stay wonderful.
Nice quiet neighborhood and well appointed house. Dale and Karen made sure to address our concerns and left us to ourselves. We were very busy with our daughter's graduation and on the go a lot. We loved their house cat "Velcrow" who visited during the day and was not a problem at night. Master bedroom is very spacious.
Dale and Karen were delightful! Able to recommend great hikes and food in the area. Great energy throughout the house... Hot Tub a Plus! Would definitely stay here again!
We chose to stay with Dale and Karen before heading to Yosemite for a backpacking trip. They had a beautiful and well kept home that was unique pieces. We booked the reservation last minute and Dale was able to accommodate us. We showed up later in the evening and Dale and Karen were still willing to speak with us for over an hour giving us tips about Yosemite (where they had just spent 2 months). Their insight was very valuable and useful. The bed was very comfortable and we felt right at home. In the morning we had the choice of a variety of cereals and tea, the best part being HOMEMADE ALMOND MILK! We regret not having more time to spend here. We felt relaxed and welcome our entire stay.
Dale and Karen are welcoming hosts with a lovely home. We very much appreciated their hot tub, which we used right away on arrival. The home is decorated with eclectic items reflecting their interests and travels. We enjoyed meeting them and their pets. When you stay with them, you'll want to be conscientious about being quiet on any late night trips down the hall to the bathroom, noise travels a bit. The house smells wonderful, a benefit of Karen's healing practice.
It started out rocky, as we could not get ahold of the host before check-in and far after our check-in time. We spent the first day of our trip stressed trying to figure out how to check-in and all hotel rooms were booked for the Memorial day weekend. When stopping by the house a lady was moving furniture out and told us her friend is living there for another week. We spent hours on the phone with airbnb and calling any number possible for the host but he was on vacation. After numerous attempts and multiple calls we finally found a hide-away key. Every call to airbnb was over a 30min wait and they were friendly but would never call us back.
It was very weird once in the house and half expecting someone to come and tell us they live there and get kicked out. We did get a call from the host telling us that he emailed us instructions to call someone when arrived. We scoured our email, junk box, airbnb everything and never found that email. The third day we went to pick-up breakfast and when back someone was in the garage and came into the house asking for money for taxes….which we were not aware of and felt intrusive although she seemed harmless and nice.
Hopefully this was just a fluke experience since the host was out of town as the house is nice and nice to have a hot tub in a serene backyard. There is also a cat, we had non-cat lovers who took very fondly to the awesome kitty. Easy to get everywhere via a quick car ride: downtown, avila, grocery store. The ad is a bit misleading seems like there would be 3 beds but there are only 2 and the 3rd is the air mattress you can blow up. This was a bummer as some people with back problems had to rough it for the long weekend. Also the bathrooms are not in the most convenient places they are located in two of the bedrooms so have to walk through a room to get to them.
Wonderfully comfortable! My girlfriend and I loved staying here after a lengthy drive on the California coast. Dale is a wonderful host and this home is indeed the perfect place to rest and revitalize after a lengthy trip. I would definitely stay here again.
Great Guests! Very Friendly and Considerate. I am glad i meet Landis Family. They are always welcome to stay at my place.
I'm a little biased (Karen is my Mom), but I can tell you that she has a lifetime of opening her home and heart to friends and travelers. So, wether you're looking for a quick stop, or some locals who are great to hang with, I'm sure you'd find a great home here.
