Hey Emily, Some interesting points here. Please allow us to elaborate. Our house-rules are clearly posted on our site and in our ad so guests can decide whether or not they are in accordance with same prior to booking. People who are experienced house renters do not need rules. However, we have rules so that there is no grey area. It’s never safe to blindly assume people will know what to do because some guests are new users to antique homes.
I’m sorry the cameras upset you. We care about our guests. The cameras are outside pointed toward the grounds and are meant only to discourage trespassing. Regarding the dust, the kitchen is brand new, the wood is still shedding a bit, so that explains the little bit of dust you are referencing. Sorry if it was an issue. (Speaking of, thank you for being the inaugural user of our new kitchen. We hope you enjoyed the bottle of wine we left for you!) Had you let us know, we’d have sent over a cleaning person immediately, but we never heard from you with any comments or complaints.
Just an FYI, prior to each check-in, our housekeepers detail the home in between all bookings. Regarding the proximity to the road, we have a sizable setback to the country route you are referring to, but it is a country road with the occasional passing car or truck, and does not host heavy traffic. It is a sleepy town with one main street. No comments have ever been made about the proximity to the road before, but I’ll make sure to mention it more clearly in our ad, so thank you for bringing that to my attention.
