Gianna's review of me is in response to my review of her property and her handling of significant problems that arose during our stay. I wish I were lying about the problems with her home (missing and broken doorknobs, broken shower, unusable bed, broken oven, fruit flies, etc. etc.) and us having to kill 50+ wasps in one of the bedrooms; but unfortunately, that's exactly what we were forced to do (instead of enjoying our vacation). We actually took a photo of the wasps to prove it, which she has seen, as well as the bucket of dead wasps we left behind, which she has also no doubt seen. When we reported the problem we thought Gianna would simply call an exterminator, but instead she screamed and called us "crazy" denying that there could be wasps in her house and said if we didn't like it we should "f***ing leave!!" That's a quote. So yes, I'd call that unprofessional. No one should be treated the way we were, especially in light of the fact that we were nothing but courteous and respectful of Gianna and her property throughout the entire ordeal. When she offered to send her property manager over (this was after she screamed and cursed at me), I told her that we would be home all morning and would be eagerly awaiting her arrival. Instead she had the manager wait to go over when she knew we'd be out. One of our party actually saw the woman pacing out front on a cell phone waiting for the house to be empty. Finally, 2 of our guests staying at the house left to run to the store (a short errand). During that time is when her manager entered the house and saw the wasps - I know b/c I received a text from Gianna at that time telling me so. Gianna is exaggerating when she says the house was left "unsecured". The outer gate was left unlocked b/c my friends were returning momentarily. The house itself was NEVER left unlocked. I cannot say whether the candle situation actually happened. But if it did it was only left unattended for a short while b/c my friends were returning. I do know that we had to buy a scented candle for the "wasp room" b/c the smell of wasp spray was strong and we were doing our best to make it more tolerable. As for my guests "attacking" Gianna - what actually happened was that we requested a partial refund for the loss of the room due to the wasps, which seemed fair and really just common sense. I tried to sort this out with Gianna informally (trying not to involve an AirBnB mediator), but she simply denied that there was ever a problem, which was kind of how she handled everything. At that point our only recourse was to initiate a mediation, which I really didn't want to spend the energy doing. I'd already spent a week exterminating her house, not to mention the fact that the stress of living in a house full of wasps completely RUINED a vacation we'd been planning for 5 months w/ friends who flew in from all over the country to be together. The last thing I wanted to do was expend more energy on such a horrible experience. My guests and I thought the best way to handle it was for everyone who stayed there (and paid thousands of dollars to stay there) to explain in their own words the experience they had from their perspective. Those statements were done respectfully and factually and submitted to the AirBnB mediator. There was no attack, it was just the facts of what happened. I actually hesitated before posting a review of Gianna's property just to save myself the hassle of typing this response to her inevitable retaliatory review; but I could not in good conscience not let other people know what they may be in for if they rented that property. I don't want anyone to have to go through what we went through.
