I am an architect, artist, designer, and yoga teacher in Hong Kong and I look forward to hosting and meeting you!
I stayed in this lovely studio for 3 months. It made my stay in Hong Kong wonderful.... Hong Kong is definitely one of the most bustling and crowded cities, which can get very overwhelming for some- me, for example. But the thought of getting back to this cozy room at the end of the day- especially to the embrace of the bed, which I affectionately call my cozy 'bird nest', always somehow makes me happier. For 3 months, this studio was my safe and quiet haven amidst all the hustle and bustle.
I had many simple but wonderful memories living there: waking up in the mornings to the sunshine and the birds chirping, the walks (or standstill) up the mid-levels escalator feeling like a tourist yet a resident, taking away wonton noodles from nearby and eating it in the comfort of the room, partying at LKF knowing that I can just walk home after, exercising at Pure Fitness (5 minutes walk away), running to Central Piers etc etc. You get the best of both worlds- the liveliness of SoHo and Central, but the peacefulness of the quiet terrace, where the studio is located.
You have quite literally everything you need for a long stay here- a vacuum cleaner, knifes, utensils, ironing board, hair dryer, etc etc. The downside was that it has no washing machine- but any one who has had lived in Hong Kong would tell you that washing machines are usually not equipped inside the apartment (due to the tiny space). Instead, laundry shops are convenient located in many spots. Also, keep in mind that its on the 5th Floor and there's no elevator. When I first checked in, Joy (the host) graciously helped me up with my luggage. The check in and out process was fast and easy, no hassle.
All in all, I look back to my stay in this studio fondly. I would recommend this studio to anyone looking to stay long term or short term at Hong Kong Island.
This studio is nestled away in Mid-Levels/Soho area on Hong Kong Island which is such a great location! I stayed for about 6 months and when I say it was perfect, I truly mean it. Upon my arrival, I found the location to be very convenient to my needs, being right off the escalator (that takes you down towards the MTR public transportation), restaurants, and nightlife. On the street, there is even a cafe, an art gallery and a spa! Even though I was in the hub of SOHO the noise was never an issue.
I found the studio to be completely furnished from my basic needs everything down to a tape dispenser. The inside was absolutely charming with Tiffany blue sculpted walls, an assortment of chathkis that make you feel right at home. On one side of the room, there is wide spread closet organiser which fit everything and more. The kitchen was a perfect size with everything supplied. The host even installed a water purification system in the sink..very convenient!
The bathroom was great size with a large beautiful mirror, a water heater and one of my favourite spots was the antique bathtub!
But by far, my absolute favourite area of the room was the area where the king size tempurpedic bed fit perfectly with curtains that closed it off from the entire room. It was very peaceful to lay with the surrounding windows open listening to the sounds of Hong Kong! I cherished coming home to that little area each day. Finally, one of the best add ons to this quaint peaceful place was the private rooftop (right side only) with seating and a grill. The host was more than accommodating, I defiantly recommend staying!!
This is a great option for being central in HK island but still being able to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. Quiet and nicely designed space. Beautiful bathroom and rooftop, only functional kitchen. We stayed two months and the host was easy to deal with and quick to respond emails, she left us all we needed for the time there. Recommended.
Loved the ambience of the room. Really cute, and great light! It's small, but everything you need is there, and it doesn't feel cramped at all. Access to the roof is a definite bonus. Also the bed is really comfy.
The location is great, just near the escalator in Mid Levels. Everything in walking distance. Plenty of bars and cafes nearby - even with a lovely little cafe right by the front door.
Joy is a wonderful host and fascinating person, and went out of her way to make me feel welcomed :)
If you have heavy luggage, be aware that there's no lift and the apartment is on the 5th floor. But the brief struggle is worth it.
Joy's place has an outdoor space equipped for cooking and dining on the roof terrace, and it is as large as the indoor space - exactly what I prefer. The interior is comfortable and stylish, with exactly what I need and not more. Every window is openable so I had no interest in the available air conditioning. It is a 5th floor walkup on a very appealing, convenient and quiet little side street without car traffic, steps away from the escalators. A good fruit stand and small grocer for a few basics is right there. This apartment is a really convenient and attractive choice for those who prefer simplicity.
Joy's instructions for the arriving guest should be published as a guide on how to tell the guest all the answers before any need to contact the host. I nominate her renter's guide for a literary prize.
I highly recommend this apartment and the host.
Great little retreat in one of the busiest and popular areas of HK.
Conveniently close to the escalators in Soho Mid Levels.
Taxi access close by.
Owner friendly and obliging and not intrusive but accessible.
Joy was great !!
We spent an excellent week in Hong Kong, based in Exquisitelyjoy's apartment. The place is very well situated: tram just outside the buildings, many nice restaurants, nice area. The place in itself is also really great: big, nicely decorated. Joy has been very helpful, answering all our practical questions.
We definitely recommend this place for a nice stay in Hong Kong.
We actually liked the apartment but our stay tainted by the owners' underhand tactic of pressuring us into positive reviews then trying to hit us with a fictional bill of $500 for alleged damages. These so called damages appeared after the apartment was rented to other people. Our advice is to avoid the grief and stay at one of the many other good apartments in HK and leave with good memories of your stay.
* 8th Floor, 16 flights of stairs to carry your suitcases up and down.
* Wanted us to stay in all day to receive a delivery for her.
* No pots and pans (making the kitchen useless).
* The open cupboard is opposite the shower (with no shower curtain).
* The open cupboard is full with storing the owners previous business enterprises. You will be living out of your suitcase.
*Building opposite can clearly see you in all your glory when you have a shower or use the toilet (no curtains in the bathroom).
*Smallest hot water tank (3min shower max)
*Debatable commercial status.
*Nowhere to leave your rubbish (you have use the street bins).
*This apartment has had animals around (cat hair everywhere).
*A very cold apartment, concrete floor.
We would advise you stay well away from this apartment.
I highly recomented the Apartment. Really really nice one in a nice district of Hong Kong where the sell all the Herbs and dry things out of the water. In the night you can go to the river in few minutes and can enjoy the breathtaking view of the skyline. The Park in the Pictures its really just over the street and you are there. Hope Joy puts also some pics from the skyline into that.
Downstairs its nice massage that you dont have to go out of the building, the ladys have hardwood chopstick fingers for them you love it ( i do!! )
Food is direct on the street old cool Hong Kong food for small money when you want.
The Apartment is SUPER clean and it really like it looks like on the Pics. I think when i go back to HK i want to take it again i see it and fall in love on the pics and more when i see it live, many many thanks to JOY...
