I can wholeheartedly recommend Alejandro's apartment and his hospitality. Alejandro made several helpful suggestions for local shops and he had left some fresh fruit, yoghurt and a few other useful things for breakfast which was very thoughtful. I felt really welcome. He had to be out of town but arrangements for keys were straightforward and we kept in touch easily. He was quick to reply the few times I had a question. House rules are reasonable, few in number and easy to follow.
I felt safe returning there (both neighbourhood and building). The apartment was spotlessly clean and comfortable (especially the bed!) which really matters when you're out and about all day with galleries and theatre and that great NY buzz. It all takes energy though so knowing I would get a good night's sleep in such a welcoming (and quiet) place was reassuring.
And it's very convenient for transport (Upper East Side) and for that all-important decompression element. Carl Schurtz Park (with Gracie Mansion) is only a few blocks East and Central Park is a little further West, a walk or a bus-ride away - looking really beautiful in early September - so you can pace yourself a little.
I'd been in casual clothes all week and I wanted to spruce up a bit for dinner one night. Alejandro told me where on 86th I could get a shirt ironed for a couple of dollars. I left it too late though and was returning via York a little disconsolate when I came across a dry cleaner still open just before the junction with 87th. It was gone 7 in the evening and he should have been closed but Paul Chang at Sartorius Cleaners (1643 York - just round the corner!) fired up his steam iron and took out those suitcase creases for me with a will. I went off to dinner feeling a little more confident about that smart restaurant.
Alejandro has some very nice neighbours. A welcoming place.
Amazing place to stay! This is the apt you must stay at for your full NYC experience. You will feel like you are home. The host left us clean sheets and towels and even left food for us in the fridge. WiFi and TV included. I was really amazed with this apt :)
Loved hosting Alejandro and his family! Very polite, great communication, clean and no issues what so ever. We would welcome again any time and highly recommend to other hosts.
Alejandro & Ana were lovely guests. It was a pleasure to meet them. Communication and arrangements were clear & friendly. They clearly enjoyed and appreciated staying in the house, and left it in good shape. I would be happy to rent to Alejandro again.
