I've lived in Darlinghurst in inner Sydney with my partner for the past 18 years. We're keen travellers, especially to the British Isles and Mediterranean countries; love Bath, hillforts, megaliths and Greek and Roman antiquities. I'm working on a book which is a collection of biographical studies of the 1500 convicts, marines and sailors who landed with the First Fleet at Sydney in 1788. This includes researching the convicts' crimes and trials in in England. Also revising a book I completed in the 90s: 'The Second Fleet: Britain's grim convict armada of 1790', originally my MA thesis at Sydney Uni. I've always hung out in libraries & archives, but less so lately now that so much is coming online. Other interests are Aboriginal history and folklore/mythology in general.
Style of travelling: try not to rush, museums, street cafes, good food and wine, urban passagiata, countryside walking.
Policy as a guest: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Motto: you can only do what you can do.
