I have a small garden in West Cork which I farm organically. I have two cottages on the land which I rent out.

We had the absolute best time staying in the Gilly's coach house! Gilly and Richard were the perfect hosts. They gave us plenty of space but were also completely available to answer questions, make suggestions, and share their love for magic of West Cork. Gilly's cooking is phenomenal!!! All of her ingredients are straight from her garden or a neighbor's farm. My biggest regret from the trip was not asking her to cook for us more. The coach house itself is both cozy and spacious. The coal burning stove keeps it nice and warm and the lofted bed was very comfortable. The surrounding landscapes are breathtaking. In short, we found exactly what we were looking for at Dunworly cottage and returned to the states relaxed, happy, and very well-fed.
Gilly and Richard were great hosts! They were very welcoming, gave us suggestions for nice walks near the coach house, and were always available if we needed anything. They also made us an excellent Irish breakfast our first morning at the coach house.
The house itself was very clean and we enjoyed reading and relaxing out on the front patio and on the big couch in the main room. It's a quick walk to Dunworley beach, which provides excellent views of the ocean and coastline. And nearby Clonakilty is an awesome town. Great food, relaxing cafes, and plenty of history.
I'd highly recommend staying here!
Gilly provided such detailed directions that guided us from Cork to the cottage. She was quick with communication and extemely helpful upon arrival. She showed us how to light the fire, where the compost bin is located, towels, etc... The cottage has beautiful surroundings to explore, we just wished we would have had more time!
Starting with the warmest of welcomes, my son & I couldn't have wished for a better holiday. The coach house is adorable with such wonderful vistas, friendly dogs and cows too....... Now, Dunworley Bay was something else. Thanks to Gilly, we had an amazing walk to the tower & along the cliffs, together with the other guests ....... and the dogs came too... whoops... Nearly forgot the delicious dinner on our first night. We so wished we could have stayed longer......but will be back.
This cottage was amazing! The homemade dinner was awesome and well worth it. The location was also fantastic and the beach just around the corner is beautiful! The second night we used the kitchen which was very well stocked and Gilly gave us some fresh fruit and veggies from her garden.
Gilly arrived just as we did and assured us we had the right place... a charming farmstead not far from Dunworly Beach in south Cork near Clonakilty. The accommodation, itself, is a delightful, old stone cottage, comfortably and colorfully furnished, with fluffy down comforters on the beds in the three spacious bedrooms. There is a small kitchen area suitable for preparing simple meals, a dining area, and a living room with plenty of comfy seating. The situation is lovely and Gilly was helpful and hospitable without hovering over us.
Our stay was perfect and relaxing. The little house is a great spot to enjoy the sea and quiet life away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Gilly was a great hostess and we wish we could have stayed longer.
Staying at Gilly's cottage was hands down the most memorable experience of our Ireland Trip! From the hearty welcome to the dinner she prepared on our last night, everything was perfect. The weather cooperated and we were able to pop down to the beach for a picnic and well fortified with Jameson, we braved the surf for a dip and investigated the caves at low tide. Getting there is a driving challenge but well worth the effort. The cottage is eclectic to say the least, but has a distinct charm and the gardens, cows and fresh from the garden meals give you that "I'm in touch with the real Ireland" feel which was a great counterpoint to our city experience in Dublin. The surrounding towns and their pubs were a bit of a disappointment as they closed early and there was no folk music we could find. Plan on stopping at a local grocery and bring your own snacks, sandwich makings and booze/beer. Gilly's personality is dynamic, fun and slightly off-beat. She not only cooked for us, but we insisted she and her daughter ate with us and we had a great time! Highly recommended for a 2-3 night stay and you must have Gilly cook for you!
Imagine the most perfect Irish vacation cottage in the most ideal location and then imagine some more! Gilly's sweet getaway is delightful in every way, from the enthusiastic welcome, to the friendly dogs and nearby cows, the doves cooing in the dovecote and the easy walk to the superb beach. Just getting there is an adventure in itself! We enjoyed the local towns nearby and it was a great base from which to explore West Cork's many great attractions. The cottage is warm and well appointed and the bed is very comfortable. We were able to have our morning coffee in our pj's; it is quite private. We recommend this cottage with enthusiasm!
A great welcome from Gilly. Throughout our stay she was super helpful. The west cottage is simply put, gorgeous. The photos - beautiful as they are - don't come close to doing the space and location justice... GLORIOUS. Lovely beaches and walks. We didn't want to leave Dunworley, who would?! Except for a meal at Deasy's which is a must for sure.
