Very nice flat and well located. Metro and all kinds of shops and restaurants are close by, Cecile is a verx nice host.
I visited Brussels with my two daughters, 18 and 21, in November 2013. I found Cecile’s apartment on airbandb but at the time her ‘second’ bedroom was pictured showing only a table in the room, you couldn’t see the bed. I sent Cecile an email to ask about the bed in the second bedroom. She got back to me very quickly and said “for the second bed it's just a big mattress for a person on the ground but it is comfortable”. This re-assured me that whichever one of us slept in that room they would be comfortable during our stay, so on the strength of that I booked the apartment. When we got there Cecile showed us round the apartment and left. In the second bedroom we found a fold-out foam put-you-up bed which was so small that when we lay on it our feet hung off the end. Cecile had forgotten something in her apartment and came back a little later, and I said that the foam bed was not the big mattress she had described and was in fact very small. Her response was that no one else had complained about it and she then left the apartment. (She has now put up more photos showing the bed.)
Cecile also smokes in her apartment and the smell of the smoke was very apparent when we first got there and it lingered particularly in the second bedroom/Cecile’s office where she has her clothes and linen.
If Cecile had just spent a bit of time preparing for her guests it would have made our stay a lot nicer. I had to rummage through her clothes to find some coat-hangers and she only left us two towels when there were three of us, I had to rummage for a third. We had to wash the towels as they were a bit smelly from being in a smoky apartment.
On the plus side: I contacted Cecile on the second day to say that the radiator in the living room wasn’t working and she came round after work. When she couldn’t get it to work she sent round a plumber the next morning. Also our Eurostar train was half an hour late and Cecile was fine about waiting that extra half an hour for us. The apartment was very close to the metro. Oh and if you smoke you can do so in this apartment.
I think this is a one bedroom apartment for two people not three, unless the third person happens to be very short, or you don’t mind making up a bed out of cushions from the sofa in the living room, as we had to do. I would have preferred not to have to do this.
What a lovely apartment! It was beautifully clean and tidy when we arrived and Cecile had kindly left us some tea and coffee as well as fresh towels on the bed - just what you need after a long day traveling! The apartment is located literally within 3 - 5 mins walk of Metro Hotel des Monnaies and in total about 15 mins from the Midi station - perfect for catching the Eurostar. I loved the area and there are plenty of great bars and restaurants a short walk away. I would not hesitate to recommend Cecile's apartment - it made our stay just perfect!
Cecile was a lovely host. Her apartment is in a great location, making a stay in Brussels lovely as it is very easy to walk to major attractions and close to two subway stations. The apartment has everything you need and has lots of personal touches which means you feel at home rather than in a drab hotel room. I would definitely recommend it as a place to stay.
Great people, it has been a pleasure to host her with her friends.
Cecile was a great guest. She was very nice and she took good care of the apartment.
