Diana was born in Santa Cruz, California in the year 1984. D spent her youth gardening, hiking, and playing with sea monkey kits. As a child she fantasized about living in the rainforest at a field station collecting exotic plant species. Common sense and a distaste for bugs won out and she decided to enter the university as a pre-medical student. After less than a year, she changed majors and went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Plant Biology from the University of California at Davis in 2006. She continued on there to receive a Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Biology in 2012. When she is not in the lab or growth room, she can be found swimming, cycling, running with her dog, gardening, or cooking. She used to dabble in food blogging, but life got in the way and she stopped updating: (website hidden).
