I am retired and enjoy cooking, gardening, socialising, music, travel, etc, etc....
I am able to advise on London generally and SW13 in more detail.
This was my first trip to London and everything was exciting and new to me. I really enjoyed my staying at Lorraines' house and she was a great host with many talks and information to me.
I love to be back to her house whenever I have a chance in the future!
The photos are representative of the space and the space is very clean. Lorraine lives in a lovely quiet residential neighborhood. I walked to the Hammersmith Tube station every morning (it's about 2 kms away) and it's a lovely walk. It'a a great place to stay for someone who wants to visit London and then get away from the hustle and bustle for the night. Lorraine was a great host, always had stories to share and she showed me around my last evening there and we went to a local pub and had a great time!
Amazing. Lorraine is to die for. We arrived and asked a couple a couple of questions about local shopping, and faster than you can say "sorted" we were in Lorraine's car for a tour of the local area. We had our own bathroom and kitchenette (good for Italians who like to do their own pasta!) Getting to hammersmith on the bus was easy . It was simply a lovely place to stay and Lorraine was the perfect host.
On the evening we left ... oh we are not going to tell. Then it will be a lovely surprise for you too!
Lorraine was so welcoming and had great tips about the area and London in general. The location is great for accessing either central London or Heathrow if you're comfortable with taking a bus. There are several routes that all run to the Piccadilly and District lines and it's easy to navigate. A really nice area to stay!
Great place to stay! Lorraine was very nice and everytime up for a cup of coffe or tea :) the room is small but it has all comfort you need. Unfortunately there was a problem with the downstairs shower room, but Lorraine had me use the upstairs bathroom (which normally goes with the twin-room) so it was fine with me!
Her house is the perfect location to explore London - just a few minutes to Hammersmith station and the picadilly line takes you right into the city.
I'll definitely stay there next time I'm in the city if she's available!
Thanks a lot Lorraine,
It was a memorable stay in Barnes.
Greatly appreciated it.
My best regards
Lorraine was a great host. Knowing that my17 year old daughter was alone, she took the trouble to drive her to the supermarket to shop for her needs & even took my many calls asking after my daughter's well being as my gal did not have a local line. My gal luvs the room & her kind hospitality. I will definitely recommend anyone looking for cozy accommodation to stay with her. Thank u v much Lorraine! Looking forward to staying at yr place should I visit London again.
Very nice and warm-heart landlord. Many thanks for your room and your help. :)
Response from Lorraine:
Hi Wen X
Thanx for yr cooperation in faciltating both Zoe's and my reviews.
With much appreciation.
Kindest Regards. lorraine
Lorraine's house it si very nice and confortable like the pictures abd the description. The position is very near to the bus stop.
Lorraine is very friendly!
Lorraine's twin room offers numerous, exclusive advantages not only in terms of space/ammenities provided, but also due to its exceptional location within the metropolis.
Namely, guests residing in the twin room are entitled to exclusive use of a fully equiped kitchenette and (email hidden)is ,along with the room's position on the first floor of the house, reassures maximum privacy in the case it is needed.
What is more, the house boasts a prestigious adress in Barnes (within LB of Richmond upon Thames which is, by the way,the safest AND wealthiest borough within London),excellent transportation links 24/7 (Knightsbridge may be reached within 15 or 20 minutes using public transport) ,as well as quiet and serene surroundings.
Finally,Lorraine has been a most friendly and reliable hostess, swift in resolving any issue that might arise.
I would definitely consider Lorraine's listing as my accomodation option for future trips to London.
Lorraine is a very kind and loving person. I stayed with Lorraine on two occasions, the first in July 2010 with family and another visit in March of this year. We became good friends, she came to visit me also on the other side of the pond in Montreal. Lorraine is a hostess that would go above and beyond your expectations. During my first visit, she gave us a personal tour around Barnes and also to Richmond Park where we had an amazing picnic. She is welcoming and loves to socialize. We had many wine and cheese parties together, and I miss those occasions very much. She is full of life, has a lot to share and is very respectful of others. She is a gem and any occasion with her is a treat. You will not regret your stay.
"I can define this stunning double room as my English residence because every time I am in London I stay there! The first time I visited was in 2004 and since then I have always stayed in this beautiful home. The room is very spacious and bright and full of comforts. The whole house is really comfortable and fully accessorized and you will have at your own disposition a personal kitchen full of everything you need for a long or a short stay. The landlady, Madame Lorraine, is a very warm and friendly person and she will help you for everything you need (information about the local area or about London monuments, taxi reservation and so on). The house is in a very quiet residential area called Barnes but it is very easy to reach Piccadilly Circus or all the other crowded areas of London. In fact, Barnes is very well connected to the centre through the bus 419 which gets you at the Hammersmith underground station where you have 3 lines (green, blue and pink). The 419 bus stop is right opposite the house! Last year we stayed in London just for three days, as final stop of our honeymoon and we stayed in a hotel in the Marylebone area. Even if Marylebone seems to be more central than Hammersmith, it is worse connected because there isn’t the Piccadilly line, that, in my opinion is the most important for tourists!
So, if you are going to London for the Olympic Games or for the Queen Jubilee or whatever… go to Madame Lorraine’s house. It is a very good place to stay in, both for families and youths! But, please take care of our double room!!!"
thanks for the room great
great room, clean, good transport thanks
