My wife and I stayed in the Zilker Festival Suite for our visit to Austin during SXSW week - a time when accommodation in Austin is expensive. The suite is the smaller of the accommodations offered by Daniel on his property and comprises a bedroom with a Murphy bed, an en suite and a microwave and fridge. While "cosy" it was more than adequate for our needs and at the right price and Daniel was a perfect host providing us with a kettle and toaster. The location in Zilker is perfect for a visit to Austin.
Daniel was a very kind host and went the extra mile to provide a few thoughtful touches in the suite such as snacks and even a great local beer. I was down for SXSW so was barely at the place but it was an ideal spot to unwind (and catch up on sleep!) during my time in Austin. It's in a quiet residential area and even without a car was well-situated to two bus routes and some restaurants off nearby Barton Springs (try Shady Grove for a lovely beer/bite outside), South Lamar (the food at Odd Duck was amazing), and 1st streets (Daniel recommended a great veggie spot: Bouldin Creek Cafe). The space itself is small but comfortable, and your own entrance and bathroom help give some privacy. Overall a good stay.
Daniel had a friend available to greet me upon my arrival since he was out of town. Everything was ready and waiting for me. A comfortable stay, even when the weather had me shut in a few days due to rain. I was here on work and the room allowed me to set up things to do lots of work. Slept great. Hope to return in a few months. Thanks Daniel.
Perfect place for a long weekend. Private, cozy, great location. Couldn't have asked for more. Everything you needed was at your disposal.
Daniel was a great host. We stayed for 5 days and felt at home. The bed is comfy and spacious. It's a great neighborhood to stay in and centrally located to nearby restaurants.
I felt most welcomed by Daniel and the Zilker Suite. Daniel was was easy to contact and was most accommodating, including an early check in, giving a quick tour around town and holding my bags after checkout since I had a late outbound flight. The room itself was as advertised, and included a ton of amenities. Overall, I didn't have to worry about a thing, which is perfect when traveling.
Daniel is a great host. He is accommodating, nice, and friendly. He went above and beyond by giving us a nice bottle of wine and some delicious homemade cupcakes for my girlfriend and I (it was Valentine's weekend).
The place itself is a nice and cozy suite ("Festive Suite") attached to Daniel's house. We enjoyed complete privacy during our stay. The suit comes with anything you would want for a weekend getaway (bathroom, shower, bed, sofa, T.V., Wi-Fi, some toiletries, small refrigerator, microwave, and dishes and utensils). The place was spotless clean too.
The location is great. About a 20 minute walk from Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park. It is a quiet and serene neighborhood.
We also had the pleasure of enjoying some of the dogs Daniel has. Since we are both animal lovers we were thrilled, but if you do not share the same appreciation for pets do not worry -- the dogs are mostly in the backyard patio so you do not have to interact with them if you do not want to.
Looking forward to staying at the Festive Suite again!
Great location and nice place. Bed was super comfy! Daniel is a great host. He is very informative and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Daniel was very flexible about when we arrived, and was very friendly and informative. This was a perfect place for our week long visit. The bedroom was beautiful with a great bed, the living room was a good size with a great deal of light, the kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to spend time there very comfortably and had the relatives in town over to spend time, and it was also an excellent location for getting around the city, everything was close by. The weather was terribly cold when we were there, but at warmer times the outdoor space would have been great. (We only wished we could have seen more of the dogs.) It is Texas, so a car was a big help, but we also definitely liked that it wasn't in the midst of the big buildings in the rather oppressive downtown.
Smaller points: very fancy lighting system we were envious of, combo microwave/convection oven great--check instructions, and big couch was good for putting our relatives on, very soft, maybe too much so. Daniel provided shampoo which I stole by mistake. Also, coffee, fruit, and cookies. Thank you, Daniel, for a great stay.
The guest house was even better than described and was the perfect set-up for us. The closet was so big (modest walk-in) that our just 7 year old claimed the room for herself and we had a second little bedroom all for her. There are large windows all across the back and side of the unit that look out onto the green backyard and let in tons of light- really beautiful and peaceful. Daniel was completely the gracious host, dropping off fresh-baked muffins, fruit and the paper during our stay. Of course, the dogs were ready to entertain or stay for a pat on demand and whenever there was an enthusiastic kid or adult nearby. Overall a great place to stay!
