Daniel was a great host. We stayed for 5 days and felt at home. The bed is comfy and spacious. It's a great neighborhood to stay in and centrally located to nearby restaurants.
I felt most welcomed by Daniel and the Zilker Suite. Daniel was was easy to contact and was most accommodating, including an early check in, giving a quick tour around town and holding my bags after checkout since I had a late outbound flight. The room itself was as advertised, and included a ton of amenities. Overall, I didn't have to worry about a thing, which is perfect when traveling.
Daniel is a great host. He is accommodating, nice, and friendly. He went above and beyond by giving us a nice bottle of wine and some delicious homemade cupcakes for my girlfriend and I (it was Valentine's weekend).
The place itself is a nice and cozy suite ("Festive Suite") attached to Daniel's house. We enjoyed complete privacy during our stay. The suit comes with anything you would want for a weekend getaway (bathroom, shower, bed, sofa, T.V., Wi-Fi, some toiletries, small refrigerator, microwave, and dishes and utensils). The place was spotless clean too.
The location is great. About a 20 minute walk from Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park. It is a quiet and serene neighborhood.
We also had the pleasure of enjoying some of the dogs Daniel has. Since we are both animal lovers we were thrilled, but if you do not share the same appreciation for pets do not worry -- the dogs are mostly in the backyard patio so you do not have to interact with them if you do not want to.
Looking forward to staying at the Festive Suite again!
Great location and nice place. Bed was super comfy! Daniel is a great host. He is very informative and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay.
Daniel was very flexible about when we arrived, and was very friendly and informative. This was a perfect place for our week long visit. The bedroom was beautiful with a great bed, the living room was a good size with a great deal of light, the kitchen had everything we needed. We were able to spend time there very comfortably and had the relatives in town over to spend time, and it was also an excellent location for getting around the city, everything was close by. The weather was terribly cold when we were there, but at warmer times the outdoor space would have been great. (We only wished we could have seen more of the dogs.) It is Texas, so a car was a big help, but we also definitely liked that it wasn't in the midst of the big buildings in the rather oppressive downtown.
Smaller points: very fancy lighting system we were envious of, combo microwave/convection oven great--check instructions, and big couch was good for putting our relatives on, very soft, maybe too much so. Daniel provided shampoo which I stole by mistake. Also, coffee, fruit, and cookies. Thank you, Daniel, for a great stay.
The guest house was even better than described and was the perfect set-up for us. The closet was so big (modest walk-in) that our just 7 year old claimed the room for herself and we had a second little bedroom all for her. There are large windows all across the back and side of the unit that look out onto the green backyard and let in tons of light- really beautiful and peaceful. Daniel was completely the gracious host, dropping off fresh-baked muffins, fruit and the paper during our stay. Of course, the dogs were ready to entertain or stay for a pat on demand and whenever there was an enthusiastic kid or adult nearby. Overall a great place to stay!
Let's begin with the fruit salad. Nothing has made us feel more at home than a bowl of fresh fruit waiting in the fridge. What a wonderful way to welcome guests to your home! Our host, Dan, not only stayed up and met us personally when we arrived from our late flight he also provided a map, local newspapers, suggestions and excellent conversation. His four fabulous dogs (in charge of Customer Service) were sweet and attentive. We loved waking up and having Jack, Jill, Pippa and the soulful smiles of Solo greet us in the backyard. The neighborhood is lovely, with easy access to shopping and dining nearby. This was our first trip to Austin and we look forward to coming back!
We stayed with Daniel for 3 days in late Oct '14.
For starters, Daniel was extremely prompt in replying to our enquiries prior to the actual booking, and was welcoming in any changes we made - including having our young daughter accompany us at the last moment.
Besides of course providing the acco itself, we found him to be helpful in arranging for an airport pickup - and in fact, when we had a problem with the cab he'd organised, he drove all the way to San Antonio himself! In a car packed with thoughtful bonuses like cold face towels and soft drinks!
The suite itself, to be honest, was somewhat smaller than it appeared in the online pics, but was clean, comfortable and well appointed with all the necessities, plus a few frills like freshly made fruit salad.
As a host, Daniel was friendly, funny, helpful and ensured we were well looked after, giving us informative tips on Austin and even going out of his way to drive us around a couple of times.
All in all, we had a very pleasant stay with a very pleasant fella!
The Guesthouse was a great place to stay. The apartment was clean and just as described in the listing and the comments. Daniel was a hands on host and very available for any questions or needs. He readily provided tips, directions and recommendations for these first-timers in Austin. Communication was also easy. Daniel was flexible with our check in times and was helpful upon arrival with keys and had house instructions/wifi info printed out. We had Daniel's number to call or text him for anything, or he was usually around next door/in the back yard as this is an attached in-law apartment. There are laundry facilities, however they are not in this guesthouse and require some coordination with Daniel and the other tenants in the other apartment to use. All in all a great place to stay!
Daniel was the perfect host! This was our second stay and it is absolutely the perfect spot to stay in Austin...not just for ACL and SXSW but it's centrally located and easy to get to SoCo, UT and all the fun spots. Great fun spots on Barton Springs and the famous Barton Springs pool is walking distance. The accommodations are great, large bathroom and comfy bed. They provide a small fridge, micro and all the little things you will need. We will definitely stay there again!
