Well, Old East Lawrence is rather casual about its landscaping. I agree that it is not a "lawn" in any sense of the word. It is also beyond my own abilities given my severe arthritis and my husband, a biologist, likes to maintain the diversity of the flora....He planted the Vinca around the edges and doesn't want to chop plants. And the Star of Bethlehem were getting ready to bloom. Philosophically, we don't like lawn monoculture--it's all bad of the environment. I've tried hiring a firm to do the landscaping, since I do appreciate that it needs maintenance, but then of course, I'd have to raise my prices.
Hi Della, I try to leave the table drawer open so guests can find the silverware...and of course it's in the house description. It's the way it was when I grew up...I now realize it's strange....I hope to have the kitchen redone before you come back. Right now I've blocked out all the dates through January, but just email me if you want to come back and we'll make it work.
