Thanks, Nat and family! I am looking forward to your visit in July when at least all the interior renovations will be complete. (Fingers crossed). You are among the top of my very favorite guests (at least 100 groups have stayed here)--easy to get along with, enthusiastic, and careful of the house. Thank you!
Well, Old East Lawrence is rather casual about its landscaping. I agree that it is not a "lawn" in any sense of the word. It is also beyond my own abilities given my severe arthritis and my husband, a biologist, likes to maintain the diversity of the flora....He planted the Vinca around the edges and doesn't want to chop plants. And the Star of Bethlehem were getting ready to bloom. Philosophically, we don't like lawn monoculture--it's all bad of the environment. I've tried hiring a firm to do the landscaping, since I do appreciate that it needs maintenance, but then of course, I'd have to raise my prices.
