The Cubby House is a gorgeous private little homestay nestled down amongst the garden. It has a great energy and serenity. We had everything we needed to compliment a great weekend. Great hosts. Great locality. Great time.
Very friendly & perfect for my needs!
Unique accommodation. Great location. Quiet backyard. Comfy beds. Scary steps up to loft! Modern bathroom. Very cute and enjoyable.
Beautiful cozy cabin, well appointed with an especially great deck. Very responsive and accommodating host. Easy and enjoyable walk to town and beach. Thank you!
The Cubby House was perfect for our little get away. Kathryn was flexible and easy to contact about our arrival time. We were welcomed by Andrew and left to settle in. My husband and I really needed a private get away and even though the Cubby House was in their backyard, we felt that we had more than enough privacy and quiet. The place was a comfortable size for my husband and I. The kitchen has all the essentials and enough to cook meals at ease.
We loved staying/exploring Thirroul!
At Kathryn's Cubby House we felt warmly welcomed but were given the privacy we needed. The perfect balance! It's a delightful little space, small on size but big on comfort and the small size didn't even bother my husband, who generally likes plenty of space to spread out in. Beautifully clean and fresh with quality linens and kitchenware. We would definitely come again.
Kathy was very professional and friendly in the arranging the dates for me to stay at "The Cubby House"
I arrived and met Andrew who made me feel at home.
Such an adorable little place, had everything a person would need. A well equipped kitchen with a little table and two chairs folded away for when not in use nearby. A big enough bathroom, a large bed with a TV at the end and a very spacious loft where you can stand up inside, with two single beds.
I had complete privacy the entire time.
Kathy did come down for a visit to chat as I had invited her to feel free to do so when the curtains were open.
Beautiful area - beaches, forests, lookout points, close to supermarkets, cafes and restaurants.
Thank you for a lovely time!
Kathy and Andrew were wonderful hosts. They were very welcoming (lending us their bikes, suggesting things to do in the area, and offering to give us lifts if needed), while at the same time giving us all the privacy we wanted. The neighborhood was just as described, a quiet residential area surrounded by beautiful steep hills, within walking distance of the train station, a great natural foods co-op, good cafes, restaurants, and a little bit more of a walk to a pretty beach with very refreshing water. We came without a car and found that it was entirely possible to get to the surrounding beaches and hiking trails on foot or by train. The Cubby House was even more charming and comfortable than it seemed from the pictures. The bed was nicely firm, and was tucked into a darling little nook that made it seem hidden away, while still receiving a lot of light from the house's many windows. The bathroom was impeccably clean with a lovely spacious shower. The kitchen really exceeded our expectations: The pantry was nicely stocked with some teas, jams, and oils/spices, and the small stove supported all the cooking we needed (steaming veggies, baking cookies, mild sautéing). Because it was only separated from the garden by large glass doors, it felt as if we were cooking and having meals in the garden, which was beautiful. The second level space, a sort of half-attic with extra beds, was exceptionally charming, with little windows looking out on leafy branches and a stained glass window - a perfect place reading and doing some morning stretches. The trees and birds surrounding the house made it seem as if we were living in a forest, and there were lovely decorating touches inside the house (patterned rugs, colorful utensils, cute pegs for hanging coats). To top it all off, there was a great selection of DVDs - we discovered a marvelous Australian movie thanks to Kathy and Andrew's collection. All of these little details added up to create an exceptionally warm, inviting atmosphere. As a result we had a wonderful, restorative holiday at the Cubby House, and only wished we could stay longer!
We felt welcome without fussiness. Great sense of privacy.
The cutest little place. Perfect location, walking distance to great cafes, etc, short drive to beach. Lots of great inclusions - coffee machine, television, music system, excellent linen, towels, cooking and eating utensils. Mattress could do with a rethink.
It IS small and is best for an overnight stay rather than a few days.
Great people, hassle-free! Though I was not around, and I have to entrust Kathy and family to my ever supportive partner and children, I didn't hear any problem with them at all. Hope next time, they can come back to NZ and I can have the chance to meet them and be of service to them on a personal level. Thanks guys :-)
Kathy, Andrew and their kids were a joy to host. They filled their days with adventures around our province and were delightful to chat to. The kids were well-behaved and respectful. We had a great time with them all. Definitely recommend them!
I enjoyed having this pleasant, easy going family with older kids stay and to see them make use of the space in Cedric. We heard a lot of laughter and they seemed to make the most of their time in the area.
It was good to talk about hosting with a another host with a similar property and hear their feedback.
I would recommend having them as guests.
