The Nest is the best name for this little hideway. Kevin is the ultimate host in ensuring your stay in Ubud is enjoyable and affordable. He tries his services first, like a driver, so you can be assured it will be a good experience. The Nest is situated well between tourist area and local area. It quiets and cools at night. Leaving Kevin, the other guests, Kadet and Ketut, felt like I was leaving home, leaving The Nest.
Really cool location off an alley in a residential area, thus nicely removed from the tourist centre, though quite close enough too if yr into that. Lots of animals around (chickens slugs birds humans kittens &c.), clean room, great host... i'll be back for sure...
Best place to be centrally located near everything in Ubud (Ubud market, monkey forest, yoga barn, restaurants, etc.) I figured out my way around walking fairly quickly! On a quiet little street, but be ready to be woken up by a few roosters in the early morning. Kevin and my entire stay here was so great, I'd definitely come back for a visit the next time in Bali!!
Fantastic place. Kevin did a great job with the renovation and is very laid back and helpful, making you feel right at home. I worked on my laptop in the living area/patio, wifi is fine. Located in a quiet corner, it is still very accessible to Ubud main street. Two playful cats running around was definitely a bonus...Highly reccommend.
Thanks Cassandra - It was an absolute pleasure having you with us in Ubud.
I forgot to personally say goodbye to my host but i really liked my stay there. I was sick with cold and cough, my peaceful nights of sleep there helped me feel better. I couldnt say much about the neighborhood as i am always away for my seminar. I leave very early in the morning and come back night time exhausted. Had i have enough time to explore pelatian im sure i wouldnt mind staying long.
Thank you Gede.
This was a really great, affordable home stay just outside of town. The distance was just so that everything was walkable although having a motorbike for my three-week stay made things convenient. Everything was better than advertised and the reviews are all accurate. Kadet was a gem and made yummy breakfast for us every morning. I had a few friends who stayed in other home stays for the same price and the Nest was far and away a better value. The two house cats are adorable. Be forewarned- it's Bali and there are creatures (lizards, snails, mice, toads, etc) that turn up here and there. I'm positive that would be the case anywhere you stay in Ubud. I will definitely come back here on my next trip to Bali.
Thank you Meghan - Your presence here made the experience for us and all the guests better for it. Thanks for staying, and we do hope to see you again the next time you pass through Ubud.
Kevin (Gede) was a really wonderful, friendly, helpful and welcoming host. After being in transit for 20+ hours from San Francisco I was given a warm and relaxing welcome, some nice green tea and an unexpected room upgrade! The place is clean, quiet (apart from some morning rooster neighbors ;)), and really relaxed. It was so nice to have a kitchen available to use and the common hangout area is a nice place to relax and eat breakfast (always delicious!), check email and have a chat with friendly neighbors. The place is quite hard to find at first, but I appreciated how quiet and secluded it felt to be in a Balinese neighborhood just a 15 minute walk from the Yoga Barn and shops and restaurants on Jalan Hanoman. I will come back here for sure.
Excellent, extremely helpful & kind host. Amazingly beautiful rooms cleaned every day. Delicious breakfast. Good wifi. What more could you want?!
Staying with Gede (who also goes by Kevin) was an absolute pleasure! Not too far from Ubud center, but it's best to get a scooter to get around and maximize your time in this wonderful village. His helper Kadek is an amazing cook and will make you a delicious breakfast. (It is a nice gesture to leave her a tip, a little goes a long way.) There are some roosters in the morning, and cute little kittens that meow but that is the extent of disruption in rest. He is very friendly and helpful if you have questions about the area. One of my favorite restaurants close by is wulans warung, serving all vegetarian fare. Get the Nasi Campur, it comes with the native red rice, so filling for just 23k! The place is really nice, alongside the jungle setting. There is also a nice deck for yoga or meditation, although my room was so peaceful that I chose to practice there. Enjoy this sweet little nest. ♡
