Kirsten & Ron were terrific hosts -- responsive and provided a clean accommodations in the Earthship community. when something of potential concern arose, they were willing to come by the home to repair it (worked out, though…it was a false alarm!) I would highly recommend staying in one of their homes in this community for a peaceful getaway, not to mention to learn more about what sustainable/off-the-grid living is!
The Earthships are amazing! This earthship is very nice for a couple or even more, Kirsten put an extra bed in the garage for us.
I loved taking a shower with solar warmed water and bright sun in the morning. :)
Be aware if you are dependent on a blow dryer or curling/flatiron - this isn't the place for you. You cannot use those items in this house.
Also, there are some large holes in the backyard at this time, so if you have kids or dogs, be aware!
That being said, I had the best sleep of my trip here. The bed is super comfy and it was nice to have some humidity from the plants/garden in the house.
We had a wonderful stay and would love to come back to the community soon.
I didn't meet Kirsten, but she left everything for us as communicated and she was very easy to communicate with before the stay.
It doesn't get much better than this, very relaxing place to stay with a billion dollar view. Ron and Kirsten were very helpful and quick to answer any questions I had. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
We had a wonderful time staying at Kirsten's earthship. It was clean and tidy and had all the amenities we needed for a nice weekend away. Go to the visitors center and get a tour, it's worth it to understand everything it takes to make a home like this. We'd love to go back!
One word: amazing! The Earthship concept is smart, forward looking, and quite moving. We had an amazing time there, learned a lot, and got inspired by how thinking outside the box can change the world. We are going home with a dream: building our own Earthship! Even if we never met them, Kirsten, Ron, and Molly sent us plenty of information by email. The place was spotless, and the small touches such as the herbal teas and the flowers were greatly appreciated.
Beautiful house and experience. House was lovely to stay in. No issues at all. Would definitely recommend staying here and learning about more sustainable forms of living.
The house was great. Ron seemed concerned that some small details were not perfect but they must have been tiny details because it was a fantastic place to stay. So cozy with sunshine to no end, a nice fire in the evening, beautiful deck and gardens, and the quite of the mountains around you.
Ron and Kirsten are wonderful hosts as well. Kirsten was quick to reply from the start, and stayed in contact with us the whole time providing directions, restaurant recommendations (she's right, I where she says!), etc. the cancellation policy is relaxed and fair and they're as flexible as you could ask anyone to be. Ton took us to the house to personally show us around. His excitement about earthships was clear and learning about them along with our stay was super cool.
These are great folks, honest and fair, and their houses are REALLY cool. You won't be disappointed.
Great Earthship, great visit, very accommodating hosts! Thanks for having us :)
A great place to stay. Earthships are great and super fascinating to stay in.
If you are going in the winter I would recommend bringing some warm clothes. It can get chilly in the earthship.
This cozy Earthship is the perfect example of what makes airbnb so great. If we had stayed at a boring hotel, we never would have discovered this supercool type of home. I was initially drawn in by its lovely design, but the fact that it runs on solar power and rainwater just blew me away. We spent Christmas in Taos and the temp was about 9 degrees at night, but the Earthship was quite pleasant. We took hot showers, and I cooked a Christmas dinner just as if we were at home on the grid. The kitchen also has all the tools a chef could want to prepare a fine meal. The stars at night were amazing (even if it was too cold for these Angelenos to spend much time looking at them), and the nights were so quiet is was almost unreal. Kirsten and Ron were very nice and made sure that we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants a comfortable place to stay with the added bonus of an inspirational learning experience on the home of tomorrow. I've caught the Earthship bug!
Kirsten and Ronald were absolutely wonderful guests. Communication with them was very easy, they left the apartment in great condition, and they were a pleasure to deal with from beginning to end. I'd easily recommend them to any other hosts out there and would be more than happy to have them back again myself anytime
We loved having Kirsten! She was a perfect guest. We hope she visits us again!
