We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Charlbury, what a beautiful home in a lovely village. Denise communicated well and the house had everything we could need.
We had such a lovely time in Charlbury! The cottage is wonderful and comfortable to stay in with a group: plenty of space and a lovely garden, too. The cottage is ideally situated, just a short walk from the train station and very near shops, pubs and coffeeshops.
Denise is a great host: very communicative and clear and helpful in her instructions. I would highly recommend staying here!
Communication was extremely good and Denise was very quick to respond to our requests and helped us with all our needs.
Thank you for your accommodation. It's a very nice house and tidy. xx
House was just what we expected and everything was in great order and condition. Super easy to get the keys, and communication with Denise was really good. Thanks!
We had an extremely disappointing stay here. The property is a run down, over priced, ex council flat on a very busy road. The balcony furniture was all broken, rendering it completely unusable; the leaking shower was taped up with duct tape and covered in mold and limescale; the cooker was so old that it took 20 minutes to heat up and all the settings had worn off the switches; the DVD player was broken when we arrived but the owner accused us of breaking it; I couldn't use my laptop the entire stay as it kept crashing the electrical circuit and the owner was not contactable to remedy the situation; the cat wandered around the flat meowing day and night and was a total nuisance, not to mention the cat hairs everywhere; the owner expected us to clean the flat when we left despite the fact we had paid a cleaning fee! Generally we felt the flat was rather dirty and pretty shabby. It should be finished to a much higher standard to warrant the amount charged, or otherwise it should be offered for a lot less to feel that you're getting your money's worth - local hotels would be cheaper and much better value. Very disappointing.
Our host made us feel very welcome, Denise even left a bottle of wine as a welcome. We had prompt replies to our enquiries. The description was correct. The location was fabulous. In a cute little village with great little pubs. Loved the place and would highly recommend the place.
A nice house in a beautiful village with a great little pub around the corner, The Bell, where we picked up the keys. We didn't meet Denise but I did fold and put away her washing, including underwear, that were left drying in the living room. There was no hot water when we arrived but we did have it by the second night once we discovered that we had to turn on the switch in the upstairs cupboard (the instructions were buried on the second page of notes, well down from those telling us to look after the sofa and not to wear shoes in the house). We didn't have any towels until the next day anyway, when the neighbour kindly dropped some off. It was lucky we decided not to cook because there was not much room in the bar fridge which was half full of Denise's private supplies. For the price, we were rather annoyed by these inconveniences. On the other hand, Denise was kind enough to make up all the beds and we found lots of good garden guides and walking maps for the area hidden in cupboards around the place, once we looked. All in all, once we'd sorted out the basics, our family of four had a nice time there. The garden was a lovely place to have a morning cup of tea in the sunshine with the birds singing and we all slept well at night. It was very near Blenheim Palace and close enough to the stunning Hidcote Manor Gardens which were an absolute treat. It is a stunning part of the world and I wish we could have stayed longer.
We had a lovely time at Denise's cottage. Charlbury is a very pretty village just 15 minutes on the train from Oxford. The cottage is modern, well-appointed and in a quiet cul-de-sac. There is only one shower which can slow things down with six people getting ready, but there are three loos and sinks. We didn't meet Denise but we had everything we needed and she kindly let us stay until the afternoon on our day of departure.
Lovely cottage in a lovely village. Great communication even to tell us about a leaking toilet. We were a family holiday with parents, brother and one toddler, and the cottage was a lovely, comfortable stay! We had been warned and sure enough we had to be vigilant with the cream carpets and light coloured sofas, but they are indeed very lovely. Good quality beds and country air - v restful!
Denise was an excellent guest. Her communication, both prior to and during her stay, was great. She left the flat in a great condition and we would be happy for her to stay again anytime.
Denise was a lovely guest and visited with her daughter for just a short stay. She sorted herself out with everything and cleared everything away too. A very welcome guest who we would highly recommend. 5 stars!
Very needy guests.
