We loved our stay with Pedro and Marina, they made us feel so welcomed in thier stunning home tucked away in the charming Santa Teresa.
Me and my partner would highly recommend staying with Pedro and Marina, it felt like a home away from home.
pedro and marina were really lovely and helpful to us. the room and the whole apartment were really nice. we felt welcome. i can highly recommend the apartment and the neighborhood.
We've been very well welcomed by Pedro and Marina. Their apartment is beautiful and very original, in a lovely neighboorhood.
They gave us good advice about what to visit, where to go out for eating or partying, and things to do in Rio in general. 100% recommendable!
We stayed in Pedro's apartment for three nights. It's well decorated like on the pictures. Room is nice facing a small courtyard. Santa Teresa is an artsy and bohemian neighborhood. It has cool bars and restaurants. If you just want to do major sightseeing like Ipanema, Sugarloaf, corcovado and Copa then a location more south would me more convenient. Santa Teresa has definitely more atmosphere. Pedro and Mariana were helpful hosts and handed us over a nice compilation of their favourite things to do in Rio. The two dogs are super cute!
David and I spent few days at Pedro's apartment in Santa Teresa. Pedro and Marina have a beautiful apartment, which is exactly like you can see in the pictures. It is located in a little square in Santa Teresa. It's a beautiful place, connected by bus to the low part of the neighborhood and lapa. In our case, we had return to the apartment several times by taxi, which is not expensive at all, but I have to add that most of the taxi drivers had to ask around to find the place :o
The room that we had is big enough and the bed is very confortable. The only negative thing, if I can put it in that way, is that they have a very noisy neighbours.
Pedro and Marina were great hosts. We had totally freedom to go in and out in the apartment. We hadn't much time to spend togehter but anyway we had the oportunity to chat a little sometimes and I can say they are very friendly and were also very helpful.
I'm not forgetting about Frido and Frida, their lovely and quiet dogs.
I do recommend this place and this host to everyone.
Our stay in Pedro & Marina place was fantastic. The room is very spacious, comfortable, well-equipped and clean. Check-in process was very smooth and he explained everything we needed during out stay. Location was also great as it was only walking distance to center. We would definitely recommend this place.
Pedro and Marina were absolutely fantastic hosts, and their apartment is excellent.
Leading up to my trip, Pedro was extremely quick to respond to my messages and provide details on the apartment. At the last minute I needed to change the time I was going to arrive, and he accommodated me with no problem. The apartment itself is very well decorated, comfortable, and very clean. It is exactly true to the pictures shown. The bedroom is a nice size with a full set of dressers if you'd like, the living room is large with a nice high ceiling, and the kitchen and entry way are also very nice and very typically South American. The bathroom is clean and spacious with a nice stall shower.
When I arrived, Pedro and Marina immediately provided me with a coffee, gave me the keys and a rundown of the apartment, where to go in the area for restaurants, bars, etc. They know the area well and were great hosts in providing recommendations.
The apartment is located right in Largo das Neves, a lively plaza in Santa Teresa. I was there on Thursday and Friday nights, and there was a large crowd hanging out in the plaza eating, drinking, and dancing along with an 8-piece samba band playing some excellent music. Absolutely incredible Rio experience. Note that it can be a bit loud in the apartment on weekend nights as a result, but in the bedroom it really is not loud at all.
The apartment is located in a great area within walking distance (15 - 40 minutes depending on exactly where you're going) from all the main Santa Teresa attractions. I very highly recommend Largo do Guimaraes for nighttime activity. Lots of great bars and restaurants in this area, including Bar do Mineiro and a great northeast Brazilian restaurant called Cafe do Alto. During the day, you cannot pass up the Parque das Ruinas and the neighboring Chacara do Ceu art museum.
Lapa, the main nightlife heart of Rio, is also only a relatively short walk from the apartment. Be sure to check out the Escadaria Selaron and the Arcos da Lapa aqueduct in the daytime. If you're only going to Lapa at night, it's a much better idea to take a taxi, simply for safety, though the areas I mentioned and those close to the apartment and within the main Lapa area are very safe.
I very highly recommend Pedro and Marina's apartment if you're interested in a truly authentic Rio experience!
PS If you're looking to get out of the Santa Teresa / Lapa area one afternoon, absolutely head down to Parque Lage in the Jardim Botanico neighborhood (easily reachable via the 172 bus). It's a truly unique, amazing park and urban space a the foot of Corcovado. You can even hike to Corcovado with a starting point in the park. Enjoy!
La pasamos muy bien en la casa de Pedro!!!!
Santa Teresa is a great neighborhood and Pedro's house is very well located for a visit to Santa Teresa. The house is cute and comfortable. The hosts have done a great deal to make it easy to be a guest, and to have all necessary information for visiting Rio.
Pedro and Marina are a relaxed and welcoming couple, and their flat is really cosy. It's easy to find your way, except if you're a brazilian taxi driver... However, there's hardly any need for taxis since Santa Teresa is so great there's no need to go anywhere else. Possibly down the hill for some late night partying in Lapa, but there are plenty of good bars nearby. tried to visit them all, but failed.
Largo das Neves, a square with an old church and a few bars, is a stone throw down their street. We spent lots of time just sitting there enjoying the stunning views over cold beers.
We arrived from a brief stay at Ipanema, and this part of the city we felt so much more relaxed. Much less people, hardly any traffic and almost constantly smiling bartenders. Oh, my favourite place was kind of a "hole in the wall" up the street and just around the corner. A funny lady sold fresh juice, snacks and hamburgers through her kitchen window. Recommended!
All in all, we would love to come back some day. Unfortunately it won't be to the same flat, since they mentioned they were moving to another place nearby. Though I hope they host guests there too, since they surely know how to decorate an inspiring home...
Great guest, he and his family took care of the apartment and left it in good shape. Pedro was easy to communicate with and was a great guest.
It was totally easy to communicate with Pedro and he was great! We met only briefly, but I would readily welcome him back as a guest.
Pedro and his girlfriend were fantastic guests! From check-in to check-out, they were easy to schedule with and relaxed. They also spoiled our puppies rotten with attention. All in all, very kind people who I would recommend to any future host.
Pedro and Marina are really awesome people and the art of hosting is deeply rooted in their souls. They were one of the very first friends I've made since I moved to Rio and I always felt welcome at their home. It's a pitty that they are opening their house for the AirBnb, because now, we are losing a bed in one of the nicest places to enjoy a peaceful weekend in Santa Teresa. If it happens that you have a chance to meet Pedro inspired and willing to cook, you're gonna thank god for choosing the right place to stay.
Peter and Marina are a couple extremely kind and their home is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The house is very cozy and I say this as an assiduous participant home. for those who want a central stay while prime city is an excellent choice. I've had the pleasure of "live" a few times in this house and was a resident of the Santa Teresa neighborhood for many years.
Pedro and Marina were some of the first people I've met when I moved to Rio more than 4 years ago and they are the kind of people that make you feel like home anytime, anywhere. They are a sweet family along with their crazy dogs, and it's always great to spend some time with them listening to their stories or tasting Pedro's food. I highly recommend them as a host!
Pedro and his wife, Marina, are lovely people, highly trustful. I've known them for almost 4 years and we've traveled together sometimes around Brazil. They're great companies, always helpful and organized. I just cannot follow them when tracking is included - they have an unbelievable energy...
I've known Pedro since college, for about 15 years now, and we know each other very well. I have also known Marina since they met, so I guess I have some personal knowledge to share here. We traveled together through many places in Brazil, Europe and beyond, staying in hostels, couchsurfing and etc. I also had the chance to stay in his places wherever he lived, including his current place in Santa Teresa.
Both as a guest and as a Host, Pedro has everything that you would like. Great conversations, knowledge about the best things and places in Rio and curiosity about the places he goes to. His Couchsurfing experience gives him a great understanding of the spirit of hosting and being a guest in someone else's home. There is no drama or lack of care involved.
Oh, and by the way, he's a world-class cook also!
Pedro and Marina always make their best to make you feel at home. I always had very good moment with them. I definitely recommend you to stay there. Santa Tereza is a historic place in Rio and from there you can take public transportations to many other places in Rio.
