Johanna has a really nice family home, very relaxed and comfortable, easy walking distance to many restaurants, bars etc in San Antonio. We really enjoyed our stay.
Johanna was as friendly and helpful as always. I very much enjoyed my second stay here during a convention at Henry B Gonzalez.
Very nice house, great family. Johanna is a very interesting person to chat with. Room is private, and everything was super convenient. Would be happy to stay again when I'm in San Antonio.
Friendly family, I ended up hardly being there, but still enjoyed them, when I did see them. Comfy bed - nice private section of their home to use.
What a neat funky place! It's the perfect location to escape from the press of the Riverwalk area but right next to the convention center. Johanna is very welcoming and flexible. I've already booked my next stay!
Great house with history in the walls, lovely big room with a separate bathroom. We walked through the charm of San Antonio; the Alamo, Riverwalk and Paris Hatters one way and to Rosario's real Mexican restaurant the other. We arrived after midnight, Johanna got up to welcome us, after that we barely saw her, she has a very busy life. Lovely place to explore a fun city.
Our 2nd stay with Johanna and her lovely family! As mentioned in the other reviews, the house has character and is a great place to stay if attending downtown events. Close enough to walk to many locations such as the Alamodome, convention center, Hemisfair Park/Tower, restaurants, etc. The family is very inviting and can be as involved in your stay as you want them to be. Another great weekend visit, and when we come back to S.A., we will plan to stay again.
I was in town for a four day conference at the convention center and this place was perfectly located for that. The house was nice, and the arrangements for coming and going were exceptionally convenient.
I do have to say the house was a lot noisier than I expected. Two out of four mornings someone was playing a drum kit by 7:45 am and when one of the babies were crying on the far side of the house it could be heard loud and clear because the stone walls and wood floors don't dampen sound. As I was there for business and was up and out before 8 am, it only bothered me when I would try to catch a nap after a long day on the tradeshow floor before evening events would start. If I'd been there on vacation or with my girlfriend, who is a lot more sensitive to noise than me, I think we would have relocated. I did ask for help getting some quiet for a conference call and the family was very accommodating, so it is possible things could have been quieter if I'd asked for more of it, but I don't like to ask a host to change their family life around for me. Perhaps that's my fault.
Very nice house and location. I was easily able to walk to the convention center. There are several very nice restaurants in the area that can be walked to. I particularly enjoyed Rosario's for dinner and Schilo's for breakfast.
The hosts provided a street pass so that a person with a vehicle is able to park on the street.
The host and hostess are very nice and easy to deal with. They do have children that tend to wake up about 6:30, so this might be an issue for vacation renters. That said, they were very up front about this from the outset. It is just something that you should be aware of.
Very nice house, very nice people. Very good location. Have fun!
I stayed there while I was attending a professional conference at the Gonzalez convention center. Gorgeous house with a classy feel, found very interesting 1st editions of a lot a classics. Quick walk to the convention center and the food trucks down the street were absolute bliss. The best veggie gyros I've ever had!!
Linda was great. Supper easy going and left the place clean.
I missed meeting her as I was out of town but would recommend her to future hosts.
