This little apartment, right at the edge of the 5th and 14th, is superb. The building is quiet, and aside from an occasional ambulance, as is the street it sits on. Just downstairs is a small grocery, a cafe, a resto, and a boulangerie. Within easy walking distance is the hubbub of Montparnasse and the (wonderful) chaos of Rue Mouffetard.
The apartment is self-catering. There are pots and pans, silver and glassware, and a coffeepot. You'll have to buy stuff like toilet paper, detergent, perhaps a knife, soap, etc. It all depends how you want to use the space, and for how long. But for one person, staying a month, it's hard to imagine a better place. You could get away with two people, but you'd better like each other. A lot.
Catherine was helpful at check-in, and although I didn't need her at all once I got there, I had no doubt she'd respond quickly if there was a problem.
The studio is in a quiet neighborhood, close to the metro and walking distance from the Eiffel Tower. Catherine was very nice and helpful.
The appartement is great!
The location is fantastic; in close proximity to public transport, tourist attractions and great shopping. The neighboorhoud is lively and fun and has a real local neighbourhood feel. There are great restaurants, a grocery store open late just downstairs , a supermarket and laundromat in the street (very convenient). The appartement is small and cosy with a pleasant and well-functioning layout. It has great natural light (5th floor) and has everything you could need.
I stayed in Catherine house with a couple of friends. We have found the apartament very nice and super comfortable. Near the house there is all you could need -like shops, groceries , pharmacies, art galleries, bar and lounge.
Catherine is very nice, and she is ready to help you.
The district is the best place in Paris. Very close to all the most famous attractions for tourists and for who want to live Paris like a real Parisian.
We were 4 people, 2 adults and our teenage daughters. Apartment was small but comfortable. We received a clean apartment that is well equiped and had almost everything we needed. Owner was efficient and available (slight problem with hot water, resolved) Location is very good, about 700 meters from the Bastille and five-ten minutes walk to the Picasso Museum (closed for renovation). There are several supermarkets very close by and a large food market on sunday and Tuesday. Metro is just around the corner. All in all, great stay.
We had a great experience all around with Catherine and her apartment. We were met by a friend of Catherine's as we arrived from the train station. He let us in and showed us how things worked. The apartment is nicely decorated, comfortable, and in a great and central neighborhood. We liked it that we were not surrounded by tons of other tourists yet we had easy access to all the tourist sites. The metro stop is super close as is a small grocery store and bank.
The apartment has all the necessary amenities and the washing machine was especially great. There is no dryer but there is a large drying rack and our clothes dried quickly. We loved that there was an upstairs to provide separation and some privacy. Our kids slept on the pull out couch and said it was really comfortable - not just fine - "really comfortable" :) .
We had one (very) minor issue that Catherine addressed immediately. Catherine also was very flexible with us on checkout. Our train left in the evening and since no one was coming the day we left we were able to leave our bags there all day until it was time to go to the train station which was awesome!!
Two of the days we were there hit 97 degrees F (36 C) and the apartment stayed very cool even without a fan! I would recommend though if you are a light sleeper (like me) you bring ear plugs or a white noise machine. Although the street is small and quiet for a such a big bustling city, I needed my ear plugs at night to not be woken up by random noises (loud cars/motor cycles driving down the street, people coming home late and talking loud, street cleaner at 6 am :). We also had the windows open b/c of the heat so if you are there in more off season it probably wouldn't be an issue b/c downstairs with the windows closed my kids heard nothing from the street. My husband is a heavier sleeper and he was fine - and honestly I was too with the ear plugs.
Overall the apartment is great and we would return and stay there again!
Une très bonnes vacances pour mes parents.
The apartment is in a perfect location in Le Marais...close to busy Blvd. Beaumarchais with everything you could possibly need (grocery, shopping, restaurants, tabacs, metro), but on a quiet street. Check-in was very easy with one of Catherine's friends and the apartment had all of the amenities advertised.
My family of four stayed at Catherine's apt. for 6 days and had an incredible time. The apt. was exactly as advertised and did not disappoint. Traveling without a working cell phone did not pose a problem as our two teenage sons could pull up emails quickly on their Ipod touches to exchange emails if we needed to or I could use our laptop in the morning and evening with the fast WiFi.
The neighborhood was nice and tucked a couple of blocks off the busier streets, but was very close to everything we needed: Metro stop, grocery store, restaurants, etc.
I would recommend ear plugs if you are a light sleeper due to early morning "city noise". I prefer fresh air and the upstairs windows open when I sleep which adds a bit to the noise, but the boys on the pull out sofabed on the main level never heard anything and were happy at how comfortable the pull out bed was.
The refrigerator, toaster, hair dryer and microwave got plenty of use but we never used the washing machine (located upstairs in the bathroom (sink/shower stall). The slight drawback, as explained in the apt. description, is that the only toilet was in the main level bathroom and not upstairs, but not that big of a deal.
It was nice having the upstairs for separation from the kids and the upstairs bedroom closet & hallway had ample space for suitcases to be stashed out of the way.
Catherine arranged for an English speaking friend to let us in and explain the apt. & give us keys upon our arrival and was flexible with our arrival time.
Very modern and classy apt. that fit our needs perfectly. Would definitely stay here again and very reasonably priced for the neighborhood.
Catherine's apartment is placed in a great location near the subway. It is two-level, comfortable and stylish. We all felt very comfortable in there, especially because of the fact that the aparment's arrangement is really well-planned and the separate levels of apartment enabled to maintain the balance between the more tired travellers (afternoon nap on the upper level) or catching up with work without ruining the atmosphere for other participants.
Besides the basic household devices, there is also an iron, washing machine, coffee maker, microwave and dishwasher (!). Wifi works really fast.
Catherine was really helpful and super nice.
Typical & Historical Marais Duplei was worth its price!
Thank you Catherine!
