This is located in the heart of Fort Kochi and all the places worth visiting in Fort and Matancherry area are at walk-able distance from this place. We took a Uber to reach the place. Although the driver had a decent knowledge of the locality we had to call the owner's number to convey the exact details to the driver. The owner was very clear in explaining it and that meant the driver took us to the place without anymore hassle.
After reaching the place, we realized we had booked a place owned by a very courteous couple. We really felt like we were staying at a friend's place. We got to spend sometime with the owner during breakfast and it was a good conversation about the locality and the Kochi city in general. Overall it was a very satisfying experience to stay at the place supplemented by the fact that it is in the heart of Fort Kochi.
Joy and his wife were thoughtful and attentive hosts. I was feeling sick when we arrived, and he drove me to the doctor first thing and bought me coconut water to help settle my stomach. They also helped suggest things to do and booked us tickets for a Kathakali performance. Breakfasts were delicious and the location is great - easy walking distance from Fort Kochin and a quick auto ride to Matancherry. The room itself was comfortable, clean and spacious, with hot water and essentials (soap, towels) provided. It got a bit stuffy when we were there (during the rainy season), especially when the power briefly went out and our fan stopped working, and the windows didn't have screens for mosquitos. That was my only complaint, and it's about what I'd expect for $15 a night anyway, but if you have the option to pay a bit extra for one of the first-floor rooms with A/C, it would probably be more comfortable.
My wife and I had a lovely time staying with Joy and his family, we felt like we were staying with family friends. The room and bathroom was spotless and spacious, and their location is a good base for exploring Fort Kochi on foot. They were very helpful in suggesting places to visit while we were there and with coordinating our onward travel arrangements. Their traditional breakfasts were delicious and we had some lovely chats with them when we got back in the evenings. All in all we would highly recommend them!
This was a perfect place for my first stop in Kerala. Joy and his wife are very helpful and generous people. The breakfasts were amazing and on Easter Day they shared a wonderful biriyani with us. Their house is in the perfect location for walking around Fort Cochin and the recommended restaurants nearby are wonderful - one of the highlights of my Kerala travels
Joy and his wife were brilliant hosts. They rent several rooms in a floor abobe their home. The room we rented had a/c and a private bathroom, as well as access to a shared living room and kitchen for the guests. The location was good.
What made this stay brilliant for us was just how friendly and hospitable joy and his wife were. They were really nice people. His wife also made us a fantastic indian breakfast! Thanks for having us :)
Joy and Jay see were the perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome. The lounge and kitchen facilities were really great and we appreciated the filtered drinking water on tap. Hot water for showers was especially nice.
The home stay is in a lovely quiet area off a main street.
Joy's skill at fruit carving was very impressive and made the fruit taste even more delicious than it already was.
This is a lovely home stay and highly recommended, definitely worth a return visit.
We had a wonderful time during our stay with Joy and his family who were very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and it was great to have the use of the lounge and kitchen during our 2 week stay. The location of the home stay is good for accessibility to shops and places of interest . Joy was very knowledgeable of the local area and places to visit on a day trip. We would certainly recommend staying there during a visit to Fort Cochin .
We had a lovely time with Joy and his family- all were helpful and kind, the location was great and the room was clean with cooling AC. Perfect!
Joy and his family were absolutely wonderful hosts! The location is fantastic (walking distance to all of the sites in Fort Kochi), the room was very clean, Jaycee's breakfasts were delicious, and most importantly, we felt welcomed by this beautiful family. We look forward to coming back to Kochi in the future, and there's nowhere else we would rather stay!
I was a girl traveling alone in Kochin and, because of my stay at Joy and JC's, I couldn't have felt safer. Besides the amazing bedroom/bathroom, the presence of the family and their attention to completing hosting duties was phenomenal. After using AIRBNB multiple times, I can easily say this was one of my best experiences.
They provided breakfast in the morning and also helped plan and book my day activities. When I needed a driver for a few hours, they provided a local auto driver who made me feel very safe and charged an affordable rate.
The location of their home is also walking distance to most attractions or a short auto ride away. It's in a cute neighborhood which makes you feel like you're living with the locals instead of the tourist hub. It's also beautiful!
