60 year old early retired woman.I am a post grad student in Statistical Research and Sociology. I do like to cook. . Tee total.
I am very satisfied after my stay at 16 Duke Street. The contact with Mrs Hendy was great, I had no problems or whatsoever.
The place itself is nice, spacious and clean. For most of the time I was the only tenant. My room was very cosy and warm.
The only downsides was that the big living room downstairs takes some time to heat up (my visit took place in December) and a poor WIFI on a top floor (this should be easily improved).
Overall It was very nice.
I can totally recommend this place.
Jean is a fabulous and humorous hostess. Ever so helpful and accommodating, she will make sure you are welcomed and made to feel right at home. Full of local knowledge, she can guide you around Devon with incredible insights...
The house is an old one and full of charm and quirks. The rooms are simple, yet very comfy and the kitchen is equipped well enough to prepare simple foods while staying here. The location is brilliant. It's a 10-15 minute bus to the city center, there are two big food stores down the road, but on the block where the house is located, everything one would need is just a few steps away. Pubs, a couple of cafés, a food coop, a pharmacy and there's even a surgery 4 blocks away if you need a doctor. If you have a car, parking in front of or near the house is easy and free.
If you aren't looking for something fancy, then this is a place to consider.
There was no heating on when I arrived ( just above freezing outside and not much better inside ). A little bit of effort would not go a miss !.
A little bit far from city centre but it was ok
jean is very kind and nice person.
The reservation was canceled 6 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I stayed here for almost a full month. It was fantastic!
Comfortable, warm, easy to get to places and Jean was a wonderful host. The room was clean and tidy, plenty of room- and electrical points!!
Jean was attentive, kind, friendly and always happy to answer questions. I was working bizarre hours whilst down in Plymouth and staying here was ideal.
I'd recommend and definitely stay there again!
For such a good deal money wise, I was hopefully not expecting a high standard place, nor a perfectly clean or modern room : and indeed this is not the case (at all). Still, Jean is very nice and all was very convenient.
The house is clean and quiet, the shared area has its own sitting room, kitchen and bathroom so you can feel like living on your own. It's not located in the city centre but it's very easy to get everywhere by bus or just going for a nice walk, the neighbourhood is quiet and safe and it has some shops and a supermarket nearby. Jean is a very kind and friendly person, she was very helpful with the recommendations she gave me.
My daughter and I planed our journey from Germany to South England by car off the top of one's head. In this situation Jean was a kind and perfect host for our short trip to Plymouth.
Jean is a wonderful host and the house is very nice and romantic, brought me memories of my childhood. We had a wonderful time exploring Cornwall and the house was the perfect starting point for us.
Jean and Ian are very chatty friendly people.Easy to get on with and are excellent guests.
