Peter is a carpenter. Lauren is a student.
We used to live in this house we have for rent here. Then, we built a little house beside it. We live there now and enjoy watching all you people come and go!

Peter and Lauren are nice hosts. At our arrival they gave us good advise in using the house and furniture. All that's in the house could be used. Food in the fridge, books in one of the bedrooms and even the turntable. All together it felt good. When we left Peter and Lauren were also really interested in our experiences in Portland. They live next to the house in a little unit. Surprisingly it is possible for them to go around the house on either side and work in the garden.
In the house several units are decorated in a standard way. Only the living room, which Is really big, is kind of open. In the middle, almost halfway, there is a bench. The rest of the furniture is only along the walls. In this way the turntable is even more visible and the two days we spend in this house in Portland the favourite place to be for Max.
Both futon-beds are a little bit different from the comfort we used to have during our roundtrip. Especially Marion, but also Pleuni, had there difficulties the first night sleep, but after putting some softer material on the mattress the problems were almost solved. I think it is very personal what the effect is of sleeping in these beds, because Max and I had no problems with the comfort.
Parts of the house are still under construction and need a certain flexibility in using the materials. Peter and Lauren certainly did a great job in realising a comfortable place to stay and planned to get it more perfect.
In the street and nearby parking of the car is no problem. During our stay, the temperatures were about 85 degrees, so a place in the shadow was our favourite. Just parking a few yards away from the house up in the street or around the corner. No problem.
At the end of the street there is a shopping area with a big Safeway, Walgreens and an affordable gas station. If you plan to go by bus it is possible to take a bus ride to the centre of Portland in the front of the Safeway.
Furthermore the neighbourhood is quiet and the people are nice.
Beds were so comfortable! Lots of street parking. Tons of Windows that let natural light in. Kitchen was fully stocked. Owners very friendly. House is close to Alberta street shops and restaurants. Loved the record player with lots of albums to play.
It was a pleasure to stay at this house in Portland. I loved cooking on the old Wedgewood stove with the fabulous collection of cast iron skillets. The house has lots of interesting artwork, books and records. My daughter loved playing the piano and taking baths in the large claw foot tub. The only thing that would make this house more comfortable is the addition of a couch in the living room.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Brilliant. Perfect hosts, great location, lovely house and the loo is separate from the bath which is so nice. Thanks Peter and Lauren!
We had a great time staying at Peter and Lauren's. It was a great place and they communicated quickly and were always responsive, plus their vinyl collection is not too shabby.
Peter and Lauren's house in Portland was super cozy. I loved all of the indoor plant life... and the record selection was pretty great as well! Lots of classics - Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, John Lennon, Bob Dylan... mixed in with some crowd pleasers - Tina Turner and ODB. The house slept 4 people comfortably. We would have loved a couch to hang out on during our downtime, but all in all, the house was great. Spacious bathroom with a clawfoot tub and the kitchen was really charming. The house is close to great shopping and bars on Mississippi. This would be a great place to spend an extended amount of time working creatively. We didn't get a chance to meet Peter, but briefly met Lauren and she was super friendly.
My friends and I all really liked this house. As you can see in the photos, it's pretty old and quirky, which we loved, but if that's not your thing you might not like it. Despite the age, everything worked very well and we didn't have any functional issues with the place. We had a lot of fun with the record player (nice collection), piano, etc. during our downtime in the house. Neighborhood was nice and quiet, and parking was easy. Basically, everything they say in the description seemed accurate. Even bought a couple books from their collection for a super-great price. We would happily stay here again during future visits.
Super responsive. Loved it!
Peter and Lauren were great hosts, always quick to communicate, answered all of our questions or concerns (only concern was that we left some belongings at the house, Peter packed them for us so we could pick them up at out convenience. How gracious!) The house was way larger than we expected, so we had an awesome dance party listening to some sweet records to ring in the new year! The house is full of quirky details and well curated pieces. We would absolutely stay again!
Peter and Lauren booked for their folks, but I did get to meet Peter briefly. Their stay was awesome! Communication was prompt and respectful, and the parental types were really sweet. We loved meeting them and would welcome them back anytime.
Totally not recomended people:( Wachout!!
Peter and Lauren were great guests and interesting people to boot, I hope they come back to New Orleans to stay!
