This apartment was more than awesome. I booked it for 11 days because my parents were coming down. I wanted to make sure they had a good time when they were in NYC and stay somewhere nice. These 2 goals were accomplished. They definitely like the apartment and also loved the neighbourhood. It is a very nice neighburhood too. I reccomend
We had a great experience staying here! We were very lucky to able to book the apartment at late notice as another airbnb host had cancelled on us with only a few days until we were due to arrive in New York.
We were worried we would not be able to find anywhere to stay but luckily Shai was easy to contact at all times and we were able to book this condo.
It was just around the corner from the east river ferry which takes you directly to Manhattan. Subway and shops are only a 5 minute walk away, the condo proved to be a convenient and safe New York experience.
Williamsburg is a great area, lots of cool bars, cafe's, markets etc.
I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.
The original apartment we rented had a disaster strike so we were forced to find a new place within hours. Shai was kind enough to pick up our rental and provide us with a place to stay for the week. That being said there are some advantages and disadvantages to this property. Advantage is that it was close to my daughters apartment. It is a very large one bedroom with the huge master downstairs with a half bath and a full bath upstairs. The kitchen is a designers dream. The full bath had a great tub with very modern vanity, sink and tub. Great living area with big L couch. Disadvantages include that the bedroom is damp because it is in the basement and could never get the air conditioning to work even after asking. Our clothes were virtually damp and mildew when we got home. The apartment is on the first floor so you hear lots of the hallway traffic. The major disadvantage is that the apartment is right next door o a seven day a week music venue that plays until 2 am. And yes you get to enjoy the music while trying to sleep in the humid, wet bedroom. Another disadvantage is that the emergency sump pump kicked on three times while we were in bed and no one came to answer the alarms. I had to wander out of the bedroom into the anterior service equipment rooms and find the emergency sump pump alarms and cancel the blaring alarms. Hopefully the sump pump worked and no water poured into the bedroom from the service rooms.
Overall, our stay was pleasant. The location of the condo is more than perfect if you're looking for proximity to great Brooklyn restaurants and bars. Getting around was no problem at all, and catching the L or the JMZ into Manhattan was simple as well.
From the beginning of the trip through the end I never made contact with Shai, but rather several people in a company that must care for the condo. These individuals, particularly Sophia, was incredibly sweet and did her best to accommodate our needs.
When we arrived (I appreciated the flexible check in & check out), I got a tour of the apartment and was told if there was anything else we needed to let them know.
It was clear the condo is unfinished in many regards and if you're looking for an experience similar to staying in a hotel then this is not your place.
There was three of us, myself, my mom and sister. They knew from the get-go there were three of us, but unfortunately we only had two pillows and the only blanket in the place was the blanket on the king bed. My sister and I shared the king downstairs and the first night my mother slept on the couch with no blanket or pillow. This was after I had called and requested a blanket, but no blanket was at the condo when we returned.
That first night, I thought that maybe my sister and I would give my mom the comforter from our bed and we'd just sleep with the sheet, but when we went to pull back the sheet we realized it was right on top of the mattress. There was not the fitted sheet over the mattress and the flat sheet to lay under, just the sheet over the mattress and the comforter. Kind of weird.
Needless to say, my mom was less than impressed. Saturday morning I called to let Sophia know no blanket had ever arrived, but the offices were closed on Saturday. Luckily, my boyfriend lived only a 15 minute walk from our place and ended up bringing us everything we needed: a pillow, a blanket and an iron.
As other reviews have noted, the condo is very loud. Everything echos, the music next door is loud, but once I'm asleep that doesn't too much bother me.
Also, I tried (to no avail) to get the heat to come on so at least walking around on those tiled floors wouldn't feel so cold and barren...but it did anyhow.
I don't know, I'd say I would stay there again because it was a great location and the place was clean. I hope over time they get better at keeping more items in the condo like blankets, pillows, etc so everyone is comfortable.
Shai was quick with a response regarding availability. The photos are very accurate, the place is in a great location, close to central park and museums. Clean and orderly when we arrived. Overall a pleasant stay.
shais apt is amazing, the pictures are accurate, and when i had questions and needed assistance with the heat, they were answered and alleviated quickly. i would love to stay there again.
to anyone who does: make sure to check out blue bottle coffee, couple blocks away, real treat
The condo was perfect! Great location to bars, restaurants, subway, and shops. Shai was very responsive and easy to get in contact with. I would stay here again and I highly recommend it!
Staying at this Condo was a great way to enjoy Brooklyn and NYC. It really is in a perfect location. Walk in any direction and you will find amazing restaurants, bars and music. There are corner stores within a block to grab snacks or a late night can of beer. The other comment about the music from the bar next door (Zebulon) is true, you could hear it in the condo, but because the bedroom is on the lower floor, it was not an issue for sleeping - and was never an issue any other time either (to be honest we were not hanging out at the condo too much anyways). Any questions I had were very quickly answered by the host and he made the trip headache free.
As I was new to Airbnb on this trip I was not sure how everything would pan out, and what the experience was like compared to a hotel. When we got there we noticed there were no towels in the bathroom. Since we didn't think to bring any we contacted Shai and we were given nice fresh laundry service towels right away.
We drove into the neighborhood and instantly found parking on the street across from the condo, so that was not an issue. I was offered parking in the garage for $15/night, but the neighborhood did not seem sketchy at all so I was fine with the street parking.
All in all it was everything we needed and more. We were there for Williamsburg, and we got the best of it!
Shai is a very welcoming person and he took good care of us when we arrived. The condo is very well situated. It is spacious, fully equipped (except there is no dinning table, only the small one in the living room) and perfect for 2 couples. Both beds were comfortable and the place was quiet.
The only thing that bugged us was that we didn't find the place very clean. Both bathroom were dirty and there was a lot of dust everywhere and even some animal fur on the floor... wich we were all allergic too!
Shai was very accommodating and responsive, and the space was fantastic. Great location as well. Highly recommended!
best host in town!!! has plenty of options for any stay
