The apartment had everything I needed for a nice 2 month stay. The internet was reliable and fast, which is a must as I work from home. The location is excellent, a short walk to 2 different metro stations and tons of shops and restaurants are nearby.
I would not hesitate to stay at this property again. Philippe was an excellent host and immediately accommodated any requests I had.
The Adjiamo was the perfect place to stay while in Montreal. It is ideally situated with a Walk Score of 98 and a transit score of 100 from (website hidden)
We didn't have a car, it was -16 degrees centigrade outside for a few days and we had our 5 and 7 year old daughters with us, so it was important for us to be close to amenities and transit.
The apartment is 600 mts away from two Metro stations, one of which is, Berri-UQAM, one of the main transit interchanges of the city. The airport shuttle (747) to and from YUL arrives at a modern bus station (Gare de Autocars) only 300 mts away from the apartment, you can also catch a bus there to Quebec City or other nearby locales or as far as Boston. There are quite a few buses running down Rue Ontario but we never used them being so close by foot or Metro to any place we chose to go.
Shopping and restaurants:
There is an abundance of options. 3 blocks towards the river you have Place Dupuis which has an IGA supermarket, it also has a pharmacy and a food court. There is also a place called Marche St Jaques 3 blocks away, which is kind of a small gourmet shopping center, with artisan bread, organic produce, etc. If you have a need for milk, eggs, detergent or any other essential, there is a gas station no more than 50 meters from the apartment. 6 blocks away you have Rue St Denis which has tens of restaurants within one single block. Don't miss Shwarma Plaza for a cheap and excellent "Assiete" of Lebanese food, only two blocks away, on Rue St Hubert close to the corner of Rue Ontario. You can walk to the heart of the old downtown in about 15 minutes.
The place is clean and functional. The wooden floors, exposed brick and halogen lighting add charm. There were two big closets and many drawers under the bed, which really made a difference since we were 4 people travelling with big suitcases. All the storage space allowed us to get our stuff out of the way and enjoy all the living space. The bed has a decent mattress and there is a futon that converts into a 2nd bed, with sufficient linen and blankets. The kitchen is small but has everything we needed, decent sized fridge, microwave, electric oven and stove, etc. The bathroom is functional, the shower had pressure and didn't run out of hot water. It has a new washing machine and drier that worked very well during our stay.
Great experience. It took Philippe 5 minutes to confirm our booking. We arrived at 11 pm and he was there to welcome us and walk us through the essentials. All his replies to our messages were close instant and he helped us out when we needed it.
The apartment was clean and cosy and conveniently located. The terrace was alright for a smoke but wouldn't be somewhere you could spend any length of time. The kitchen and bathroom were stocked with the bare essentials which is thoughtful, especially if you're staying just for a few days. Philippe seemed quite nice.
Overall a positive experience :).
This apartment is wonderfully situated close to the Jazz Festival, the Gay Village and the Latin Quarter. Our host was courteous and helpful. The accomodation would be best suited to a traveller not expecting modern conveniences; the bathroom was poorly lit, the terrace was not usable, there were no screens on the windows, the unit had a musty odour (removed after opening windows), and the TV received only 4 stations - 2 English and 2 French. This was our first time using Airbnb, so perhaps I did not know what to expect. Overall, the unit was clean and reasonable.
This was my first airbnb experience and I have to say it was a very positive one. Philippe's apartment was very cosy. It was spotlessly clean and had all the amenities. The kitchen was well outfitted and everything worked properly. There were basic things such as salt and sugar, which were much appreciated. It is close to downtown, Parc La Fontaine and Old Port, and of course is right in the Plateau. For all that it is amazingly quiet, even with the window open. In my opinion it was worth every penny. I felt like a real Montrealer while I was there.
Philippe and his friend were extremely charming during these two days spent in my apartment.
Very courteous and discreet, they returned the bedroom as well as the rest of theapartment in a perfect state.
If they want to return, they will be welcome
Philippe and his family were very nice guests. They also left the apartment very clean upon departure. He is welcome back anytime.
