I am from San Diego, CA and when I am not travelling the world, I work as an engineering program manager in the electronics industry.
In my free time at home, i love to cook and learn about traditional food preparation (I make my own kefir and sauerkraut!) :)
I am an American that has been lucky enough to live all over the world: Australia, England, and Hong Kong... and have visited over 30 different countries. My husband, Karol, is originally from Poland.
I understand very simple Spanish and studied French for four years in high school. I am currently studying Mandarin Chinese, but I only know about 30 words, 你好! Karol, obviously, is the Polish speaker of the household. :)
Karol and I are independent travelers, and we have a great time exploring the world together. Last year we rented a car and drove through Bohemia and Bavaria: Krakow --> Prague --> Neuschwanstein area --> Salzburg --> Vienna --> Krakow. This was quite a departure for us, because we usually take trains, buses, or budget airlines, but we had a wonderful time touring the "Romantische Strasse."
We've been to Poland, Italy, Russia, Finland, Germany, Croatia, England, France, and Czech Rep together, and love to stay in local neighbourhoods whenever possible. This year we will be going to visit Hong Kong for three weeks in October.
As guests: we are very neat and tidy and tend to rise early and go to bed early. Our favourite things to do on holiday is just walk and walk and soak in a city... stopping from time to time to have coffee or beer and watch the world go by. Also, Karol likes to find views, so we usually end up walking uphill (or stairs) A LOT! ;-p
As hosts: our condo is a perfect spot to serve as home base as you explore San Diego, and it is our hope that you find it a home away from home. Our only wishes are that you leave the place as you found it, and respect our neighbours by keeping noise to a minimum. Also, I have a full pantry, so help yourself to rice, quinoa, spaghetti, or whatever you find and feel like cooking... just jot down what you've eaten, so that I can restock. :)
