Ruth was a pleasure to work with, and extremely helpful. The place was exactly as advertised, although I will say that the outdoor premises (lake, garden, walking trail) is way more stunning in person than I thought it was going to be. We would definitely consider coming back. Thanks Ruth!
We had such an amazing time at Ruth's place. Her property was so beautiful and peaceful. We pretty much just hung around her back yard for most of our trip. There's nothing like swinging in a hammock while listening to the relaxing sounds of the stream. We would definitely come back in a heartbeat.
Our stay was perfect. Ruth is a great host. She even stocked the fridge with almond milk and farm fresh eggs. Her place is delightful. We had plenty of room and enjoyed the scenery. We'll definitely be back.
I took my girlfriend up to the Catskills for a surprise birthday weekend getaway. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay nor could we have asked for a better host. Ruth was very communicative in the days leading up to our visit and remained in touch throughout our stay. Whether it was directions to arrive at the house safely at night or restaurant recommendations around town or chocolates... she provided it all!
The house itself is an architectural gem. We were truly fascinated by all of the intricate woodwork. The property is HUGE. We had a great time exploring the landscape. Our favorite part of the house was the patio deck. Ideal for breakfast in the morning, a glass of wine in the evening.
The next time we stay at Ruth's house, we will make sure we stay for much longer than a weekend.
This was our second trip here, and we had a wonderful break! Ruth is a great host! It was great to experience the place, and the area, in the winter - the house was perfect for a relaxing weekend vacation!
Ruth was an AMAZING host. There are not enough stars on the rating system to accurately show how much my group and I enjoyed the stay. The house is beautiful and spacious. Everything was provided for us, spices, towels, toiletries. You name it, it was probably provided.
It was hard to find the house initially, however Ruth was contacted and gave great directions once we got close. Luckily there wasn't much snow on the mountain road and our sedan managed to get up to the house without an issue.
The house was beautiful. It is 10 minutes in either direction to a major ski resort and everything was super convenient. I would recommend staying here to anyone, and would love to stay here again in the future!
Ruth was an exceptionally attentive host, ensuring that the driveway and stairs were cleared of snow in time for our arrival. She was also kind enough to leave behind a pair of snow shoes for our use! My boyfriend and I were delighted to find her kitchen well-equipped.
Above all, Ruth was very responsive to all my questions, of which there were many. Thank you Ruth for helping me prepare for the trip, quickly answering my messages, and chatting on the phone when I had other questions.
In terms of the house: it is great for medium sized group, has a full sized sauna (clean and very hot), a beautiful fireplace, and a functional kitchen with all the necessities.
A note on the hills leading up to the house. They are fairly steep and can get a bit icy. The development does a great job cleaning the roads often. My group happened to arrive in the middle of a snow storm; if you're in a similar situation, I recommend having the 2-wheel drive cars use tire chains. My 4-wheel drive car made it up fine, but the Honda needed the chains. Worth repeating: this advice is only for the day of snow fall and very immediate aftermath. In the days after the snow fall, the roads were in decent shape for the 2 wheel drive cars.
Ruth was a very helpful and available host.
We got stuck going uphill in the snow and she was available to give us the emergency number to call for someone to help us. The house was beautiful and we enjoyed our ski vacation very much!
Ruth's place is perfectly located for Vermont skiing, close to Okemo and Killington, exactly as described.
The house is warm and cozy while also being modern and spacious, it even has a sauna! It's spectacularly perched on a wooded hillside in a development that's part of the Hawk Inn & Mountain Resort, however a good distance from the main resort location. We had 6 guests, one couple, 4 singles, and that was an easy fit.
Ruth was extremely helpful, pointing us to some discount lift passes before we arrived, and answering our emails during the stay. Her pre-arrival info was very useful and do take heed of her warnings. If you come during winter, expect snow and bring a vehicle that can handle it. You may have to drive up unploughed winding mountain roads. We had a 4-wheel drive SUV which was fine but our other friend brought a small sedan which had a miserable time spinning its wheels and sliding around. I did warn her and so did Ruth!
I can't recommend Ruth's place more, we had a great stay and will certainly look this up again when we next plan to ski in the area.
Absolute perfect guests! Awesome people. We would host them anytime!
Ruth and her husband Joel are airbnb hosts, so it's was especially special to host them! Very considerate and easy to be with and just to have around. I wish they could've had a little longer to enjoy the area, and get to know each other better.
Response from Ruth:
Thanks Amy, We would stay again for sure. Wish we were back - it is still cold here in New York (though some crocuses are starting to bloom). All the best to you!
Ruth communicated well regarding her plans & was very respectful of house rules! She left the place super clean. I would have her back as a guest any time! :)
Ruth was an excellent guest! She was pleasant and left our space perfect. We would love yo have her back.
It was our pleasure to host Ruth and her husband Joel, who are warm, clean, and very friendly. They stayed with us for two nights and were the best guests we could ever have. They arrived on schedule, great in communication, and Ruth even helped me took off the sheets. We shared great conversations over breakfast. I hope they enjoyed their stay and found Kingston, Ontario a fun place to visit.
Ruth and her husband were only with us for one night but were very gracious guests, outgoing and warm. No issues at all. Welcome any time. Ruth even stripped the bed, replaced the spread, and put the dirty sheets in a pillow case. Pure class.
Ruth was a pleasure to host! We booked the night before she came and the whole process was seamless. Ruth and her husband left the apartment in immaculate condition and even left us some beautiful daffodils, which brightened up the apartment! I did not get to meet Ruth, but I would definitely recommend hosting her : )
It was a pleasure hosting Ruth and her husband Joel. They were very fun to talk to and get to know. As guests, they were friendly, easy, communicative, respectful, neat, clean, and quiet. Highly recommended as guests! Plus, Ruth brought us some yummy dog food for our dog - homemade by her talented grown daughter. Ruth and Joel are lovely people and a lot of fun to get to know. We hope they return and stay with us again!
Ruth and her husband, Joel, were great guests. They arrived on schedule, appreciated the accommodations and we had a great visit over breakfast, like old friends. They even made their bed before leaving, which was totally unnecessary. I highly recommend them as guests.
As Ruth's daughter's business partner, I have had the opportunity to get to know Ruth quite well over the years. I can confidently say that I have NO reservations vouching for her as a friendly, funny, honest, conscientious, and helpful person and hostess. I have stayed at Olivebridge a few times and really enjoy the comfy house and bed, as well as the lovely grounds. It's just the kind of wooded wonderland you dream about when you crave getting away from it all and spending some relaxing (or active) time in nature... taking long walks around the property, curling up on the couch with a good book, having a glass of wine or cup of tea on the deck, or cooking up a delicious meal with fresh ingredients from a nearby farmer's market. I also love venturing out to the nearby Country Inn of Krumville, with its great beer selection, local, organic food, and outdoor seating/firepit. As you plan and enjoy your stay, you can feel good relying on Ruth's vast knowledge of the area to steer you in the right direction. Highly recommended hostess and property!
I've known Ruth for five or so years -- she is truly an incredible woman and hostess. She's got a sharp wit and humor that makes me laugh and was both very generous and "on it" when I stayed with her. Her cozy place at Olivebridge is in quite a beatific place - we took some great bike rides and walks. Also some cool sites just a short drive away. I highly recommend going here if you want to take a break from NYC or wherever you are!
