Response from Edward & Suzanne:
This was Carolyn's first time using Airbnb and unfortunately don't think she grasped the concept. We didn't get of to the best start as I was left waiting at the apartment for over two hours because they couldn't find the it and went to the wrong address. This was after I had given detailed instructions in correspondence and on the itinerary they receive from Airbnb. They finally arrived after they went to the pub to recharge their phone and have a drink. They seemed to think this was somehow mine or Airbnb fault. I however welcomed them warmly! After 24 hours I received an email from Carolyn saying that she was really upset with the cleanliness of the apartment. I was a little taken aback by this as our previous guests have repeatedly made a point of commenting on the cleanliness of our apartment! However I offered to come back and re-clean anything that needed doing. The response was that she had already cleaned everything. Unfortunately from here there was nothing I could do.... Apparently they really enjoyed the rest of their stay. As I said earlier I don't think Carolyn gets the Airbnb concept. I think the reason that she found the apartment 'dirty' was because I had left butter and other essentials in the fridge and other items such olive oil, balsamic, various spreads, spices and condiments in the cupboard. This is to save guests going and buying little basics when they only need a little! When I came to clean the apartment everything had been thrown out. I mean everything. I understand that Carolyn obviously places a high emphasis on hygiene but this was extreme. I think it is clear by our other reviews that we take great pride in our apartment and maintaining a high standard. We will continue to do everything within our power to ensure guests have nothing but positive experiences.
