I am a writer and desktop publisher and retired from doing many things, mostly maritime, or environment-related, and also I worked as a paramedic and emergency room RN. I lived in Norfolk, Virginia for a long time, but grew up in rural New England riding horses, sailing, camping and canoeing. I moved to Juneau in 2010 to be near family, but I spend winters near Ahmednagar, in Maharashtra, India. I love to travel and in recent years have visited Paris, Mexico, Arizona, Hawaii, Canada, Australia and Fiji. I volunteer a lot, and help several nonprofits. I am learning to speak Marathi and how to cook the local dishes from my part of India. (Bring your own coffee, because all I have here is chai!) I don't drive, not good at it, but one reason I love Juneau is I can walk to shopping, movies, library, bars and restaurants, and run into somebody I know every day. I am addicted to NPR and Apple products and enjoy my G5, iPhones, iPod, iPad and MacBook Pro! Considering getting cable, but where would I find the time to watch TV? I love to prepare Indian feasts for friends.
