Hi, My name is Mary. I was born in El Centro, CA and lived there mostly until my dad moved us back to his home state of Oregon when I was 13 yrs. old. I lived in Oregon for 24 years from Salem to Gates. In 1996 I escaped back to the desert in Arizona. I am a mom of five daughters and two granddaughters. I've spent my life raising my kids (and some of their friends) with joy. I work part-time at home now and help with the granddaughters when needed. I like to make things that I can crochet or sew. Lately I've been crocheting afghans. I like to make quilts too.
I like to go camping. The places I love most when I've camped are up around (website hidden). Helens in Cougar, Washington, Detroit Lake during the Fourth of July holiday and Oak Creek Canyon out of Sedona, Arizona. .
My family is what I couldn't live without. Oh and probably comfortable footwear. It's flip flops or Birkenstocks on my feet. About the only time you will see me in closed shoes is if I go bowling or ride horses.
I like to read non-fiction mostly. Maya Angelou is my favorite person I've read about. I love her poetry. I've had the pleasure of seeing her speak twice. Some of my favorite movies are "Patton", "Harold and Maude', "Finian's Rainbow", "A Song for Bobby Long", "Close Encounters of a Third Kind" and "Parenthood". I love oldies music from the 50's up and classic rock the most. You would find Indian flute music to Nirvana Unplugged to Yo-Yo Ma to Johnny Cash in my music collection.
My mom moved right up the street from me in 2007. She was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer the same year. We can be found during baseball season at Chase Field watching the Diamondbacks. My mom and I have been taking trips together and marking things off on her bucket list. We've ridden in a hot air balloon, gone to The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, gone to San Diego to see the Diamondbacks play the Padres, driven to Camarillo, CA, Salem, OR and El Centro, CA to visit family and friends. We are now planning another trip to Oregon in July with stops in Sacramento on the way and Sugar City, ID on the way home.
Most recently my husband and I made a trip to Bisbee, AZ. We stayed at The Shady Dell. While there we spent time visiting Tombstone. It was a lot of fun. One night we took in a play put on by a local group.
The thing I love doing most is spending time with my husband and family!
