Texas to NYC and back to Texas again. Sigh.
I really enjoyed my stay at Henry's appartment. It was well equipped, nicely furnished and spacy for NY standards. Henry was quick to answer emails and made sure he gave us all the directions (website hidden) was a short walk to Times Square and easy to get to all New York atractions. Would definitely stay here again.
I could not ask for more in my first airbnb experience! After several trips to New York, I wanted to try something other than hotels. Henry's place was perfectly located and the modern decor was just an added bonus. Henry was quick to respond and went out of his way to make sure my stay went smoothly and was enjoyable. His friend Alex who met us at our arrival was warm and inviting and even emailed us the next day with his food recommendations after we mentioned we were interested in some suggestions. The apartment was even better than described, spotless, and huge by NYC standards I wholeheartedly recommend both Henry as a host and his chic apartment should it be available on your next visit to NYC.
I had a fabulous stay at Henry and Van's apartment. They made sure their home was clean and comfortable upon my arrival, and Henry is a great communicator. I bombarded him with questions about NY pizza and bagels, transportation to and from work, etc., and he patiently answered every question!
Not only did Henry and Van make sure the apartment was spotless, they also left the bed stripped so I could make it myself; provided clean fresh sheets and towels; and they also left space in the closet for me to place my clothes and belongings. The apartment was very quiet (though sometimes you could hear a bit of noise in the hallway during the weekday mornings...nothing too disturbing though). Their bed is *super* comfortable too; with the swamp cooler in the bedroom and the AC in the living room, I slept wonderfully each night. There was a small fish to feed with a few flakes every other day, which was very low-maintenance. It was great! I felt like a true New Yorker for the time there, which was exactly what I was hoping for. My only suggestion -- bring some speakers for your iPod, there was no way to play music in the apt besides the TV. One more thing to mention -- the apartment was *huge*, especially by NY standards. I didn't know there were places with kitchens this big in the city. The whole apt was super nice and so comfortable.
The apartment building itself is in a great part of Manhattan. Three blocks from the 4-5-6, four or five to the N-Q-R. It was very conveniently located, and easy to get all around the city. The neighborhood was relatively quiet as well, not too busy at all. There still were a good selection of restaurants within walking distance, and the great shopping area on 34th st. was near by as well. And it's great coming home to a doorman and friendly neighbors.
I hope you're lucky enough to snatch up this gem in the middle of NYC. Good luck!
Henry was great. Very accommodating, and very clean. Henry was punctual and courteous. I'd highly recommend Henry as a guest.
